I was really looking forward to this, and it's a nice album. But I was expected something a little more adventuresome.

No rough edges, but I enjoy the atmosphere. A few more vocals would have been nice.

One of if not the first digital recording released on LP.

You may be right about this being one of the first digital recorded pop releases. Regarding classical music Denon was a frontrunner from 1972 onwards (from the late 70`s in co-operation with Supraphon)  .... and the earliest jazz digital recording goes back as far as 1971 (!!)

I always think of 'Don Juan's Reckless Daughter' as that

Interesting .... "Reckless Daughter" seems a Jaco Pastorius show to me, whereas on "Heijira" the variety of bassists used is astounding ....

Joe Ely "Down On The Drag" (MCA Records)                                                             1979 ....

This is a good one!  I find things I love on every Ely record.  Both his solo work and with The Flatlanders.

I've meet and hung out with Joe a number of times when I lived in Texas.  He's a great guy, and easy to talk to.  I suspect his touring has slowed down substantially, sadly, as he's gotten older.

Here's a song he released last year that isn't on an album yet.
