EKE BBB Posted July 6 Author Report Posted July 6 A friend of mine got tickets for the Black Sabbath/Ozzy Osbourne ‘Back to the Beginning’ farewell festival yesterday in Birmingham. It must have been something! 😜 Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted July 6 Report Posted July 6 Almost sad to watch though... I guess it happens to all of us. Quote
BFrank Posted July 7 Report Posted July 7 Watched this interview with the members of Beat - a band that's playing mid-80s King Crimson albums. With Belew and Levin (who were in that version of KC) plus Steve Vai and Danny Carey from the band, Tool. Very interesting conversation about the current band and also Belew/Levin's experiences in the original band with Fripp and Bruford. I need to listen to Discipline, Beat and Three of a Perfect Pair Quote

Kind of out of the blue, since he's been kind of 'invisible' for many years. https://substack.com/@martywillsonpiper Interesting - I wasn't aware of his Substack but will check it out, thanks. I have a soft spot for the Kilbey/Willson-Piper era of The Church, but am also happy with where the band is currently. Ian Haug and Ashley Naylor are both fine guitarists. The band's got a double album due out later this year. On 7/6/2025 at 9:38 PM, BFrank said: Watched this interview with the members of Beat - a band that's playing mid-80s King Crimson albums. I need to listen to Discipline, Beat and Three of a Perfect Pair The Beat show in Phoenix was probably my favorite show of 2024. The music was simply fantastic. I've already preordered their live album due out in September. I took this picture of Tony, still one of my favorites. Quote

Perfect ... actually 👏 I think Beat is playing in San Jose or somewhere like that later this year. Probably won't make that show. Quote

Amazing Tony and Geezer allowed Bill Ward back in the fold to drum too! That alone is worth the price of admission. It must have been something! 😜 Original Sabbath line up, including Bill Ward! Bill Ward hasn't been "allowed" to play with them for the subsequent reunion tours for decades. He sounds just as crisp as ever in the War Pigs clip I watched on Youtube; one of my favorite rock drummers. Quote

Kevin Bresnahan Posted July 19 Report Posted July 19 Rock or funk or R&B??? Now playing - Spring - Funkin With The Rhythm And Blues (Springs of Sound Music). I have no idea where I got this nor who "Spring" is. With this cover shot, I have to wonder if I'm his target audience. Funky stuff... maybe R&B. Fun either way. Quote

BFrank Posted July 20 Report Posted July 20 I'm listening to these guys for the first time in a LONG time. I forgot how great their song are. On one hand they're LA Punk 80s-90s, but on the other they're talented musicians with extremely well rehearsed vocal harmonies. On top of that, their singer, Greg Gaffin has a (copied from Wikipedia): "BA Biology, BS Geology and master's in Geology at UCLA. In 2003 he went on to earn his PhD in Zoology from Cornell University" Now playing: Quote
