Well, you spent $71.82 for 9 CDs, when you could have picked up 12 CDs for $71.76, or 20 CDs for $79.60, or 30 CDs for $89.40. But leaving your financial choice aside , you picked a very nice selection. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 Joe turner is one of many guys who I didn't buy too much of, because I thought I'd always be able to get his recordings. But I never thought they be issuing boxed sets of his early cuts. Today, I decided it was time to get this What a compilation! It covers nearly everything he recorded between the Spirituals to Swing concert in December 1938 to "Shake, rattle & roll" in 1954. Perfect, and crucial recordings. MG Quote

Believe me, I would have loved to have bought 20 or even better 30. The problem would be explaining it to the wife when she saw me hauling in the loot. Quote

The Magnificent Goldberg Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 Postman turned up this morning with TWO packages. This was in the first, a big LP-sized box from Dusty Groove: Bill Doggett with the James Brown band. Thanks to Jim for telling me it was available and where. In the other package was 3 CDs from CD Universe Thanks to Paul (I think it was) who let me know where to get this one. Listened to the Red Garland already! Smashing groovy stuff! And so's the Cobb and the Jones is as wonderful as all her albums. Going to start on the Doggett after I've made some bread. MG Quote
