What music did you buy today?

A few on-line orders I am waiting on, a Chu Berry/Lucky Thompson CD with their Commodore recordings, as well as a couple of Red Norvo CDs.

Then I went into Dusty Groove to pick up my copy of Dizzy Reece's From In to Out and got a few other things including a used copy of Sleepwalker's The Voyage. I nearly paid big bucks for this on a trip to Tokyo, so I'm glad I waited.

Tomorrow I will know whether I got a Mosaic Select or not, which will determine whether I spend a little time and money at the Mosaic webste.

Real find in my semi-local brick-and-mortar CD shop: used copy of Frank Rosolino's Free For All for $7.99!

CD purchases have been rare lately, but I had to jump on this.

Excellent session. The players are top notch and the music never flags.

I have indulged myself lately on the strength of a repeatable BMG code that offered 3 free CDs-S&H charges only. I've ordered Look Out!(Stanley Turrentine); Maynard Ferguson: Octet; An Electrifying Evening with the Dizzy Gillespie Quintet; Coleman Hawkins All Stars Live At Newport and I forget what else. This code also meant that I could order a real dog- I've Got A Woman and Some Blues by George Benson-and not feel so bad.

Thanks to a repeatable BMG code I went on a year-end buying spree of which these are the last. What can I say about Soulville, pretty fabulous blues playing and the ballads are The Beast at the top of his game. This is my new favorite BW release, second only to Atmosphere For Lovers and Thieves. Symphonica is a calculated risk, as my appetites are finicky when it comes to jazz with the symphony orchestra.

A real bargain from France!

Same here! I just got a great bargain on this set a few weeks ago from the former US distributor of Oehms (Naxos of America has now taken on that role  ), which was blowing out its entire Oehms stock at deep discounts. :tup

Great! I'm really looking forward to getting it. The email came this morning to say it had been dispatched.

You may have already seen this, but here is one of the glowing reviews of the set (when it was issued on Arte Nova, prior to Oehms reissuing it):

and a follow-up on the Oehms reissue:

By the way, as the second review mentions, there is no listing of individual tracks and timings in the booklet that comes with the box, so I just printed it off of this page and stuck it in the box! :)
