When you get the chance to listen to this a few times, please post your thoughts here!! — in a thread I made a while back for the entire CD.

Got the disc. Sounded very good on a first listening. Unfortunately, the CD arrived scratched and has to go back.😢

Hope to say more if / once a replacement copy is received.

Such a bummer when that happens!  :(

Because it's such a low-priced item, they (DG) are crediting my account rather than sending a replacement. So I plan to throw a copy (if still in stock) in my next order. The scratch is at the end of the last track, so I can listen to around 95% of the disc straight through.

In the meantime, I ordered this from elsewhere

You drop word of a 50% off sale by a (I assume) predominantly jazz seller on discogs and don't give out the name of the seller so others can see what is left?

:P  That would be philadelphiamusic.

https://www.discogs.com/seller/philadelphiamusic/profile?sort=listed%2Cdesc&limit=250&q=Half+Off+-+Marked+for+Removal

Note: Only some inventory is half off.  About 1,700 jazz CDs.

I guess I ordered from them a little too early.  And right now not having too much extra cash with a septic tank pump out and wife's truck a/c on the fritz. But thanks for the link.

And I thought I went mad with a recent 7 item order to Honest Jon's 😃

:g  Yeah, I can pump the brakes on the buying for a while.  I've got plenty of new-to-me stuff to dig into.

So what did YOU order from Honest Jon's???   Out with it!   Don't be shy.  ;)

OK, very familiar with the Philadelphia record store, gave it a quick whirl.  $31 (including tax, S&H) bought me this.  Pretty hard-boppy in retrospect, but hey, that is my go to.  Particularly looking forward to the Von Freeman Chicago CD:

Robert Mazurek With Eric Alexander - Green & Blue

Joshua Breakstone Featuring Tommy Flanagan And Jimmy Knepper - Evening Star

Doug Raney Sextet - Meeting The Tenors

N.Y. Hardbop Quintet - A Mere Bag Of Shells

Joshua Breakstone Trio - No One New

The Jodie Christian Trio - Reminiscing

Brad Goode, Von Freeman - Inside Chicago Vol. 1.

Sir Charles Thompson - Robbins' Nest

Jim Rotondi - Dark Blue

Christian Winther - Blue Function

Ryan Kisor - The Sidewinder

Tardo Hammer - Tardo's Tempo

If I am going to hop on the Philly music sale I think I have to get into that list tonight ... it was already down around 1500 in the jazz category.  But I don't have time at the moment.

When I got into the list it was down to 1350 or so ... took 23 for a total of $50 shipped. I may list them out tomorrow.

11 CDs with shipping for $24.85. Not too shabby.

A few I've owned in the past but lost track of them so I figured I'd add them back in at these prices...

Flying Colors - Joe Lovano & Gonzalo Rubalcaba $0.79

Dear Sir: Tribute To Wayne Shorter - Dale Fielder Quartet $1.27

Telepathy - Cindy Blackman $1.90

Deep Purple - Arnett Cobb $5.07

When Larry Met Harry - Larry Goldings | Harry Allen $1.69

Night Birds - Harry Allen/Totti Bergh/George Masso $2.53

With European Friends - Stan Getz $0.75

Jonas Plays Gullin – Bertil "Jonas" Jonasson $1.06

Are You Having Any Fun? - A Celebration Of The Music Of Sammy Fain - Harry Allen-Keith Ingham Quintet $2.11

Andalucia - Kevin Hays $1.06

Angel Eyes Ballads & Slow Jams - Jimmy Smith $1.06

I had that Arnett Cobb in my cart until I verified I did have it, so I am glad you were able to get it. And the Jimmy Smith is a good one too.

Mine:

Ernie Andrews - No Regrets - Muse

Greg Abate Quartet - Bop City - Candid

Bill Coleman - Don Byas - Lausanne 1949 - TCB

Alvin Queen Quintet - I'm Back - Nilva Records

Three of a Kind - Minor Music

Jay Thomas Quartet - Live at Tula's Volume 1 and 2 -

(this is the sort of thing I'll try for $2 total)

Jeannie & Jimmy Cheatham - Blues and the Boogie Masters (Concord)

Benny Carter - Skyline Drive & Towards  - Phontastic

count Basie - KC 3 - For the Second Time (Pablo-OJC)

Harry Allen Quintet - A Night At Birdland Volume 1 & 2 (Nagel Heyer)

Allan Vache & Harry Allen - Allan and Allen (Nagel Heyer) (Eddie Higgins made this one a no-brainer)

Zoot Sims - Bucky Pizzarelli - Elegiac (Storyville) - (gotta try a tenor-guitar duo, live recording)

Ben Webster - In a Mellow Tone (Magnum America) - yeah it's a trio I don't know but its $3

Jerry Weldon & Bobby Forrester - The Second Time Around (Cat's Paw)

(I think maybe just tenor and organ? Could be fun.)

Harry Allen Quartet - A Little Touch of Harry (Master Mix)

David Hazeltine - After Hours (Go Jazz)

Ryan Kisor Quintet - This is Ryan (Videoarts) - most expensive at $5 but for a Japan release, and with Grant Stewart

Cecil Payne - The Brooklyn Four  Plus One (Progressive Records) - I have been getting a lot of photos of this group from the Gaskin Papers at the Smithsonian, so I wanted to find a copy of this to hear how they sounded

Various - The Benny Carter Centennial Project (Evening Star)

Charlie Parker - Liveology (Re Records)
