Hardbopjazz Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago My assumption is these fell off of copy write. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago These are from the Pipe Dublin label and are download only. I assume that that the Pipe Dublin name, PD for short, was not chosen blindly. Most of the tracks on these "albums" are from OJC labels (Prestige, Contemporary & Riverside). As an example, "Nocturne Logic" is "Tenor Madness". Quote
Dub Modal Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago No idea what "ractals of blue" are supposed to be. Really odd looking stuff. Quote

I assumed the F got dropped from Fractals, and that seems to be correct. The actual album is Saxophone Colossus. https://www.isrbx.me/3138221225-sonny-rollins-fractals-of-blue-remastered-2025-hi-res.html Quote

Big Beat Steve Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago (edited) In short, those packagings are a big scam. BTW, I do assume "copy write" in the opening post is supposed to mean "copyright" (unless it's a clever play on homophony ). Since liner notes are probably inexistent with downloads there is not likely to be much "copy write/writing" there. Edited 1 hour ago by Big Beat Steve Quote
mikeweil Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago In other words, cheaply taking advantage of European copyright regulations. Quote
