Drove down yesterday from the civilized Paris weather to the brutal heat of the southwestern France Landes area. Thermometer was at 41°C (105°F) when we arrived.

There is a local fiesta in the nearby city today. We'll stay indoor to avoid the heat

Amazing picture - love the way the water has been caught.

Here its mainly grey or raining. We had a week in late July that was summer as it should be. Apart from that it's been very disappointing.

There was that boiling hot weekend a couple of weeks ago, plus it was quite nice for most of the Olympics. The days and days of rain at the start of summer were incredible.

I never complain about unpredictable weather, though. It's one of the many things I love about living in England. We could easily get some real summer weather in September.
