Back to the 70s ! :lol:

Incidentally, if you want a good re-imersion back into the 70s crises (3 day week, power cuts etc.) I recommend Dominic Sandbrook's latest book (just reading it).

Snow thawed outside for the first time for several weeks. Clear roads again !

I have it on my shelf - loved his previous two. The only thing that is delaying me is the fact that I read a marvellous account of a slightly longer stretch of the 70s back in May - 'When the Lights Went Out' by Andy Beckett. Amazing how much I had completely forgotten.

Yeah, I have the other 2 Sandbrooks too. They are excellent. His next tome will be about the Callaghan era (74-79) apparently. No doubt to be followed by another behemoth about Mrs T !

Must pick up that Beckett book - have seen it in the shops. Oh hang on, this is the weather thread..

After the high drama of the first 3 weeks of December, a week where temperatures rose and the country was enveloped in a gloomy mist for day after day.

At least all our water pipes haven't popped like in Northern Ireland:
