catesta Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Well, I hope you guys don't get hit too hard out in Garden City. Will be interesting to hear folks' reports late tonight and for us in New England, tomorrow morning and afternoon! Marla I'll keep you posted. I've got guys scattered from JFK Airport to Suffolk County. Quote

I've got guys scattered from JFK Airport to Suffolk County. Thanks! Weather Channel officially posted the Blizzard and Coast Flood warnings. Oh, and if I don't respond, it is because our power is down (not sure if I can get organissimo through my cell phone mobile web feature). Marla Quote
catesta Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 I hope the power doesn't go out. Quote
makpjazz57 Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 I hope the power doesn't go out. Thanks! As of 4:40 EST, power is still on, but I have that thermos of coffee just in case. OK, Mom's boyfriend checked outside and there's about 11 inches of snow out there with drifts twice the size. I would take a pic and scan, but I still haven't figured out how to post a pic. I am a "techno-duh" when it comes to that stuff. I would love to see others pics posted here for those also affected by the snow. Catesta, what is the snow count in Garden City? Also, StereoJack, any snow news from there? Heard Revere got about 18 inches of snow. Happy snow to all! Marla Quote

Stereojack Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Also, StereoJack, any snow news from there? Heard Revere got about 18 inches of snow. We are two towns away from Revere. It doesn't look like we got that much to me. My guess would be closer to 6 or 8 inches. Of course, I haven't set foot out of the house yet. Quote
Joe G Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 We had that rarity of rarities: a full day of sunshine. I got out for a walk in the woods to soak some up. Quote
PHILLYQ Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Close to two feet here, with some wild drifts. I went out to shovel with my wife & son, and we moved a lot of snow in front of my small house. Wednesday's temperature is expected to reach 50! Quote
Kalo Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 At least a foot of snow, if not more, in my neck of Boston. Quote

I didn't get home until 1:00 AM (today). 30+ hours with only about 1 hour of sleep is what it took to clean up most of our sites. Then when I got home I had to finish digging the car out and spread some calcium chloride. In Queens we definitely got 25+ inches and probably around 20 give an inch or two on western Long Island. Just a week ago we were breaking heat records now I think they looged 26+ inches in Central Park breaking the prevous record. Crazy. Quote
chris olivarez Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 Not too bad right now about 34 degrees but over the next couple of days the wind is supposed to be picking up and we could be getting snow. At least I don't have to hit the road this week and hopefully the weather gods will be smiling on me next week. Quote
Joe G Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 We had snow and freezing rain this morning, temps in the low to mid 30's all day, and now there's a thunderstorm brewing. Just now, aside from a few rumbles and flashes, there was a prolonged gust of strong wind howling outside my window. Like something out of an old walt disney movie. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 We have about 3 inches of slush on the ground. I had Ann out clearing the drive tonight and 2 city trucks went by (blades down) and sprayed the crap 10 feet into our yard - almost hitting her. Those bastards. Quote
catesta Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 We are expecting some rain tomorrow and the temps to drop from highs in the 50s to highs in the 30s. Doesn't look like much rain, but it does look like heavy winds. Quote
Free For All Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 4 degrees above zero! Same thing in KC! Quote
catesta Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 It's around 24°F at the moment. They say with the wind chill it feels like 9°F. Quote
kinuta Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 3C. cold, overcast, drizzly, miserable. Quote
chris olivarez Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 Snowed here yesterday. Close to two feet at Wolf Creek. The cloud cover is keeping it fairly warm. Currently 39 degrees. Quote
frank m Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 On Long Island---coldest of the season I believe. Quote
mgraham333 Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 We're finally getting some snow. We've been without precipitation for some time. looking out the front window across the street standing on the back patio Quote
chris olivarez Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 25mph winds ,mostly cloudy and 34 degrees. Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 It's funny.....if you check Weather.Com with any regularity, they'll usually hedge their bets by listing at least a 10-20% chance of precipitation. Even if it looks like a solid 4-day run of sun & mid-80's they'll dutifully list the 10% just to cover the bases and have some wiggle room. Today, they actually went with a 0% for my area....and it's now raining! Quote
