The Magnificent Goldberg Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 Maelstrom here nowhere near as bad as expected last night. Worst to come? Not bad here, either - and the maps on the TV forecast this morning showed that we were right in it. I wonder if this is a case of 1986 having too much of an impact, such that forecasters are now inclined to say things will be a lot worse than they turn out to be. Crying wolf is as bad as underestimating the severity of a storm. I wonder how good American forecasters are at predicting the severity of storms? MG Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 It was wet today but some nice sunny spells too. No-where close to the madness of last July. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 I might have spoke too soon. sidewinder Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 A few branches on the roads this morning and heavy rain today but - on the whole - nowhere near as bad as expected. The South Coast, West Wales and Cornwall/Devon seems to have got the worst of it. Quote
randissimo Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 Finally getting more sunshine .. January and especially February were brutally cold, lots if snowfall, and only 2 or 3 days of sunshine all month.. High temps are very slowly starting to climb above freezing.. I thinks it's going to be another couple of weeks before we see temps warm enough to melt the 3 foot snow banks on the sides of the roads here.. Quote
paul secor Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 Windy yesterday and today - tho not as bad today. Probably normal wind conditions for Chicago or Buffalo Quote
Guest Bill Barton Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 The weather in the Seattle area today is truly bizarre. First hail, then snow, then rain, about 30 seconds worth of sunshine, now just the typical general grayness. What the hell is up? It's freaking April 18th for goodness sakes! Back in 2001 I moved 3200 miles to get away from this crap. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 It would be pretty nice here, were it not for the icy nor-east wind blasting through! Summer's here MG Quote
sidewinder Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 It would be pretty nice here, were it not for the icy nor-east wind blasting through! Summer's here MG I've heard there's a 'Euro-Stench' coming in from over the North Sea from either Germany, Holland or Belgium (or probably all 3 ). Will hold nose when I head out later. Quote
AndrewHill Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Warmin' up here. Was able to sleep with the window open last night. Quote
paul secor Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Sunny, warm - a beautiful spring day - went for a walk at 6:30 this morning. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 went for a walk at 6:30 this morning. So did I - out into the back garden for a fag MG Quote

sidewinder Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 The bats are out for first time tonight this year doing circuits in my back garden. A sure sign that Summer is nearly here Meanwhile in Western Canada isn't it like -20C or something crazy like that? Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 Yes - lovely day yesterday. Took a walk into Tonyrefail and wore my padded jacket, as it's been so cold lately. Boy, was I sweating when I got home! MG Quote
AndrewHill Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 70's all week so far. Got some yardwork done this morning. Quote

Free For All Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 Lots of nasty weather nationwide over the last few days! Anyone have any problems? Quote
Shawn Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 Lots of nasty weather nationwide over the last few days! Anyone have any problems? A couple tornadoes ripped through a housing complex and strip mall in the town where I work this week (Suffolk, Va). Amazingly no one was killed. Luckily, I had the day off so I was 30 miles away. AndrewHill Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 Stormy and rainy today. Still warm though -_- Quote
AndrewHill Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 Its been an unseasonably cold so far this month. Time for a warmup Quote
deadcoldfish Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 30 degrees hotter than typical yesterday, usually 75 degrees, yesterday 105 .... but it did cool off to 67 last night, instead of just 80 degrees the night before. Quote
