This morning:

Dave Brubeck/Paul Desmond - The Duets 1975

Charles Mingus - Black Saint and the Sinner Lady

Elvin Jones - The Ultimate Elvin Jones

Teddy Charles - A Word From Bird

Right now: Gerry Mulligan/Thelonious Monk - Mulligan Meets Monk

Posted

Norman Howard "Signals"

Ernie Henry "Presenting"

Blue Mitchell "Big 6"

Thelonious Monk "Monk's Music"

A careful listening to the Monk record sent me on a Wilbur Ware hunt, hence the Mitchell and Henry dates. I suggest listening to Monk's Music with headphones while concentrating on the bass. Wilbur is a wizard on this.

Jaga Jazzist - Animal Chin ep

A friend of mine has been raving about Jaga Jazzist and their The Stix album (link).

Listening to the music on the ninja tune site, I must admit: I am impressed. Sorta like a modern day Zappa on downers.

I didn't know they had a new one coming out. Thanks for the heads up! I have heard their first full length - A Livingroom Hush - and really enjoyed it.

today:

Hash Jar Tempo - Well Oiled

Dave Holland Big Band - What Goes Around

Dollar Brand w/ Johnny Dyani - Good News From Africa

Reid Anderson - The Vastness of Space

Music From the Morning of the World: Balinese Gamelan

Romano/Sclavis/Texier - Suite Africaine

Omar Sosa - Sentir
