  1. PM sent on the McLean Nature Boy and the Ike Quebec Easy Living.
  2. Did I dream about an upcoming Three Sounds Mosaic set or is it in the offing? I remember reading something here but I can't remember if that was somebody's wish or the confirmation that Mosaic was planning to release a Three Sounds set.
  3. Is the opening side of the LP off-vertical, as if the guillotine was cutting the thing at wrong angle? Every one of this title I've ever seen has had that ! Yes it is. I hadn't spotted it until you mentioned it. It is pretty obvious once you know it. Question about original BN titles: Do some records have a NY label on one side and a 47 west 63 rd on the other? Are these real original records? Often BNs are pretty confused about labels, better check the stampers out on dead wax: look for the "ear" and "vangelder" or "RVG" stampers, if you want to be sure you got an early pressing. Thanks chaps. Very useful tip.

  5. Lee Morgan Cornbread NY The record was still sealed and I am giving its first spin. My word!! No wonder so many people are prepared to pay so much for original copies. This is just incredible.
  6. What a win for Holland! Congrats to Van Basten II and commiserations to Porcy62. As for France, I can't believe how shocking we were.
  7. I am trying to find on Ebay all the titles of the LT series that haven't been released by King but it turns out to be a tricky business. These titles seem to have been reissued several times with the same jacket. How can I tell the originals and the reissues apart? What is the address on the jacket of the original pressings? What about the label? Any other way to distinguish them? The Goldmine guide is a bit confusing when it comes to the most recent BN titles...
  8. They also have the Silent Way set for $25.
  9. Exactly Porcy! It is exactly what I think. The 45 RPM series is brilliant but so many of these titles have been reissued by King, Classic records etc etc...Why is it that these titles do not get the attention they deserve? A lot of them are cracking sessions! BTW, I have found a list on the following website! Great site! http://www.jazzdisco.org/bluenote/lt-cat/
  10. Up for this topic. I have most of the King pressings of these titles and they have cost me quite a lot of money. There is no question that they sound better than the American pressings. Could anybody post a list of the Rainbow titles, please? It seems to me that quite a lot of them were not reissued by King. Does that mean that some of these titles are only available on LP in this Rainbow series?
  11. I have some sad news to report. I have just been listening to my first ever original BN record ( McLean Let Freedom Ring ). This could the end of my teaching career as I need to start raising some funds and find a better paid job. My world! This is just amazing.
  12. I didn't see this thread. All my thoughts are with you, Jim. I am so sorry to hear your sad news.
  13. Up for this thread. I am listening to the Hank Mobley 'Soul Station'. It is to die for. What an amazing job they have done with that one. The gatefold sleeve is a big plus too.
  14. Belated thank you for posting the last Swinging Swede
  15. I am desperately trying to find a list off all the connasseurs BN have released over the years. Has the thread gone?
  16. Thanks a lot everybody. It has been a nice day here and a very special month with our wedding in sunny Glasgow ( yes sunny! ) followed by a lovely honeymoon in even sunnier and much warmer Mauritius. A bit hard to be back at work but Lynn and I had a smashing time. And there are hopefully plenty of nice things to look forward to. One of them is the Linn ( and Lynn's...) turntable.

    PMs

Am I the only member to experience difficulties with my PMs. I have been trying to reply to a PM sent by another board member and I got a note saying 'there is a problem with a quotation' or something in that vein. It keeps happening. Also, for some reason, the PMs I send are never stored in the 'PM sent' section. Why is that? Thanks for the help.
  18. No brainer - LP12 ! Was the 'yes' from bank manager or Mrs-to-be? Enjoy the McCoy. I think I'll be checking him out in Bath in a few weeks' time. The yes is from Mrs ASNL77! We got married a month ago today and we are just back from our honeymoon in Mauritius, hence my silence on the forum for quite sometime. As for the banker, he'd better be looking after himself and his job in these difficult times. I didn't know McCoy Tyner was coming to Bath! Too busy preparing the wedding. It must be too late to get tickets....
  19. Thank you! Nice to have a bank holiday weekend to celebrate... No vinyl or Mosaics this year but some cookery lessons and two tickets to see Mc Coy Tyner in Marciac this summer and I have just managed to obtain a 'yes' for the purchase of our next turntable. Linn Sondek or VPI Scout. Not sure which one to go for but I can't wait!
  20. Bob, I received my first two records today and the Jackie McLean has the same problem. (three clicks). Nothing major but a bit annoying for a record that costs $50. Howe were they with you? Did you have to argue the toss to get a replacement or was that done smoothly? Can't face a battle over two clicks...
  21. PM sent on the Classic Capitol set $200. Can I mention how proud I am to be part of this board with such a nice bunch of people. You could make more money on Ebay for those sets David. I am very grateful to you for thinking of us before trading them on Ebay. All the best. I hope things go better for you soon.
  22. PM sent on the H.R.S. Hope that will help, David...
