I can't figure out how to search for the BMG thread (since BMG is three letters, and too short for the current search process), so I'm posting this one here:

BMG sale - 65% off w/no shipping - AU06PM2

This is good for double disc sets. Most appear to be $8-10 or so, shipped.

The discs listed by Aggie87 have surfaced at yourmusic.com, though I can't vouch for every title. "Boston Blow-Up" is now next in my queue.

Since I joined yourmusic.com, my BMG account has become inactive. Only the BMG $1.99 clearance CDs are cheap enough.

NEW! JAZZ!

:tup Thanks for posting that... I've almost purchased both the Shepp and Ayler "Impulse Story" discs (as I have very little of both artists) at regular prices. Now that I can get them for $5.99, it might make the decision easier.

or not... I usually regret buying compilation CDs, as I usually end up wanting all of the individual recordings.

To respond to the above... The McLean is one of the best - a grabber from note one! Up to now, you needed the Mosaic box just for this. Everyone is at the top of their respective games on this one.

The Blakey is another story. Lots of drumming. I probably have a hundred Blakey albums, and this is one I rarely (if ever) put on. But for six bucks, you might want to take a chance, it will probably be out of print in a year and you'll kick yourself.

That would be how I would call those two as well.

I paid a lot of dollars for the TOCJs of the Blakey, two of them! And then I later found two other copies that I passed along at cost to a board member. They're definitely worth the 6 dollar investment, mainly for the few NON drum corps pieces. Interesting to hear. . . I doubt you'll play this disc over and over and over day after day!

Yeah, I agree - the Blakey Holdiay for Skins will be OOP soon. Not for your average jazz buyer. It was originally on 2 separate albums. Vol. 1 & vol. 2. Later on 2 separate CDs. (Japan only)

Donald Byrd does play trumpet on a few songs and Ray Bryant is also on piano. (not all drum solos)

Now you can buy all the music combined (8 tracks, about 68 minutes) on a single CD for $5.99 Clearance priced. :g
