Ah, I need to buy that recent reissue.  As much as I hate rebuying music, Solo Piano Record is such a fine album that I need to have the expanded version.

The bonus cuts are very nice indeed. ;)

Hank Jones plays some wonderful solos on this disc. Jimmy Heath and Mark Elf are also in good form.513LbtY2hSL._AC_UY218_ML3_.jpg

I think this was the first Mark Elf CD I ever bought.  I had never heard of him before, but I found this CD in the used bargain bin in a store and based on the other band members alone, I figured it was worth a listen.  I have bought a couple of other releases by Mr. Elf and have enjoyed each one.  He really is a "talent deserving wider recognition". (as the Downbeat polls used to say).

Richie Beirach - ZAL (Trio Japan, 1976)
Duos with Yoshiaki Masuo (trks 1 to 3) and Terumasa Hino (trks 4 & 6)

Both ZAL and Scofield's Live (above) are being reissued on CD later this month in Japan.  I only have them as downloads.  Sorely tempted to buy both.
