I just finished this gem by jazz drummer and educator Michael Stephans, one of the best jazz books I've had the pleasure to review. .

In a later edition there's a short forward by Chambers explaining the whole thing. 

That's long been rumored and I think it's plausible. I read Davis/Troupe first, then Chambers. Yeah, Troupe is the guy who should take the rap for any plagiarism, sloppiness, etc.

Shoveled and cleared the cars from 6” of snow we’ve gotten in the last 36 hours or so. Whew. Ran some necessary errands and finally have an hour or so to listen. Starting off with disc 4 of this set for the second time before moving on to the next disc. This set is something else.
