I tried it and got this: This content isn't available right now When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted.

Bandcamp Friday! I picked up a few things (dls only...) that have been on my wishlist for a while - a couple by Eric St-Laurent a local guitarist I've seen at the Rex a few times: Darn That Band https://eric-st-laurent.bandcamp.com/album/darn-that-band and El Choclo https://eric-st-laurent.bandcamp.com/album/el-choclo and Sweet as Broken Dates https://ostinatorecords.bandcamp.com/album/sweet-as-broken-dates-lost-somali-tapes-from-the-horn-of-africa (which is very much in the same vein as the Ethiopiques series) Then I got an email from Cuniforme and picked up a few of their releases as well... Doors of Perception by Raoul Björkenheim https://cuneiformrecords.bandcamp.com/album/doors-of-perception Bring Your Own by Led Bib https://cuneiformrecords.bandcamp.com/album/bring-your-own-2 and The People in Your Neighbourhood https://cuneiformrecords.bandcamp.com/album/the-people-in-your-neighbourhood also by Led Bib I did consider pre-ordering Hotel Pupik by Led Bib, but I need another track to preview. I'm not sure I am sold on their new direction.

Bob Dylan “Time Out of Mind” Sony Blu-Spec CD2 This is such an amazing, powerful album. The new remix is good, but I find that I prefer the original mix–maybe because I have had it so long, but maybe because the swampy density of the sound just seems appropriate for the material. I’ll never tire of this work–the songs, the sequencing, the mood.

I went out to Discogs, and threw copies of the Bluiett CD from four or five sellers into my cart, to explore adding other CD's to an order of it to optimize postage. I came back some hours later, and two of the copies of the Bluiett CD had sold in the interim! Surely other members here jumping on it 🙂. BTW, I agree with Thom that I'm not always in onh Bluiett's recordings. He had a tendency to go self-consciously retro/gimmicky at times, and I found those to be tedious. But when he was good, he was very good!

I went to the final day of the Old Trafford test last Sunday. First test match for 40 years, and the forecast rain never arrived. Not sure I'd do it again - very busy, huge queues for refreshments, and we had to shoot off a few overs early to avoid an hour waiting to be able to get on the tram to head home. The India fans (probably more than half of the crowd) had a ball, with three centurions to cheer, and a very good performance to bat out the draw. I saw this guy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudhir_Kumar_Chaudhary I'd never heard of him - it was an Indian chap sat next to me who told me all about him.

Holy smokes this was good. I seriously regret that it took me so long to get to it. Definitely need to seek out a few of these. Regarding Dick Griffin, since Thom is too modest to shamelessly self-promote, I'll do it. We did a couple of gigs with Eddie Gale and Dick Griffin almost 20 years ago now (!) and here is some of the evidence. (note: don't bother trying the links in the bottom left of the video, they no longer exist)
