Computer Gurus: Linux
Kevin Bresnahan replied to GA Russell's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I have about 6 laptops running Ubuntu. It's perfect for what you describe. It comes standard with Firefox and Open Office for surfing & basic office stuff. Ubuntu is free. You just need to make sure you have at least 8 GB of RAM for the latest version to run. -
I have Xocia's Dance on vinyl, but I've never even seen it on CD in the wild.

Read something about Donny and decided to pull this out. My LP is pretty worn. . . this was a big party record for me when at the University of Chicago and the years after that. But this cd sounds really great. Donny Hathaway “Live!/In Performance” Shout!Factory 2 cd set, the “Live!” disc. 500×447 28.1 KB

I am thinking about picking up a desktop computer with Linux. Just for internet surfing and the usual office tasks. Any suggestions regarding the Linux version? The retailer? Thanks!

I don't know these two. What records do you recommend? Really...? I think it is fair to say that I don't hear this at all.

Finishing off a re-listen to this set with disc 1. This was a great run-through of a killer release. Tyshawn Sorey Trio +1 With Greg Osby "The Off-Off Broadway Guide To Synergism" Pi 3 cd set Disc 1

Thanks! It may be that the early Lighthouse record was just unrehearsed or that Latin rhythms were new to him at the time. He doesn't seem to struggle on these.

Solid Never heard this album but the cover photo is excellent.

So wonderful ! It´s exactly what I want to hear. It´s so close to my musical tastes, it´s amazing. Makes you believe, makes you pray, makes you happy.....like Pharoah Sanders does for me, my all time favourite, whom I had dedicated a composition on my latest album. Sure, I listen also to some straight ahead stuff from earlier periods, especially at a club when I hang around after a gig, or get home and feel exhausted, then some of the 1950´s BlueNotes, or Prestiges help me to relax.....

yeah, I'll definitely pick that book up.
