  1. Yesterday
  2. I picked up the vinyl version of this. I liked the fact that he used Tim Ray on piano. Tim is a Berklee prof and plays in the Boston area almost weekly so I've probably seen him live close to a hundred times by now.
  3. Going into the weekend with this set: First up: Mostly recorded in 1968, with one session in January 1969. I LOL-ed at a mention in the liner notes that noted that the JSQ was specifically asked to NOT play Beethoven in their earlier days, and were at least once BOOED when they actually did! By this time, though, they had matured a bit, and can't imagine anybody booing this.
  4. RIP. Grew up listening to Chuck Mangione in the late 70's early 80's and he had an impact on me was in concert band in middle and high school. One my favorites:
  5. Also on this small-group messengers album, with Keith Jarrett (!) on piano, the mysterious Frank Mitchell on tenor, and Reggie Johnson on bass. Seems like there should be more tapes from this gig availalbe.
  6. He's on this soul-jazz Blakey album, playing with Grant Green and Big John Patton.
  7. Week 8 picks https://doorfliesopen.com/2025/07/24/cfl-beat-241/ https://3downnation.com/2025/07/24/3downnation-cfl-picks-straight-up-against-the-spread-week-8/ https://pifflespodcast.com/blog/piffles-picks-week-8-2025/ My picks... Stampeders over Alouettes - The Stamps are crushing everyone, while the Als will be without Alexander. Riders over Elks - It wouldn't surprise me to see the Elks look like a new team with Fajardo starting, but the Riders are improving. Bombers over Argos - I expect the Bombers to bounce back after two bad losses to Calgary. The Argos have yet to look solid. Tiger-Cats over Lions - The Ticats have won four straight, while the Lions have been inconsistent. ***** Week 8 Game Notes https://www.cfl.ca/2025/07/24/game-notes-what-you-need-to-know-ahead-of-week-8/ ***** Week 8 previews https://www.cfl.ca/2025/07/24/4-storylines-to-watch-in-week-8/ https://cflnewshub.com/cfl-news/game-preview-calgary-stampeders-5-1-vs-montreal-alouettes-4-2/ https://cflnewshub.com/cfl-news/cfl-schedule-today-july-24th-2025-montreal-alouettes-vs-calgary-stampeders-tv-channels-live-stream-odds/ https://www.tsn.ca/cfl/calgary-stampeders-wr-damien-alford-on-a-touchdown-tear-in-rookie-season-1.2338480 https://cflnewshub.com/cfl-news/cfl-week-8-edmonton-elks-1-4-at-saskatchewan-roughriders-5-1-preview-injury-report-and-predictions/ https://www.cfl.ca/2025/07/24/3-keys-to-victory-for-edmonton-saskatchewan-in-week-8/ https://www.cfl.ca/2025/07/24/cody-fajardo-to-start-for-elks-vs-roughriders/ https://www.tsn.ca/cfl/edmonton-elks-quarterback-cody-fajardo-to-start-vs-saskatchewan-roughriders-1.2338738 https://3downnation.com/2025/07/24/edmonton-elks-name-qb-cody-fajardo-starter-vs-riders-bench-tre-ford/ ***** Season review https://www.cfl.ca/2025/07/24/5-eye-popping-stats-shaping-the-2025-season-so-far/

  15. He was good at what he did. R.I.P.
  16. I always did like that music !
  17. This one was also my favourite in the 80´s .
  18. Grateful Dead “Enjoying the Ride” box set, this one Boston Garden, Boston, MA (10/3/94) disc 3
  19. Here in my 40th year I just got hip to Black Sabbath and must say I think they’re absolutely outstanding. I guess I was put off by the “heavy metal” tag and costume-y aspect of their vibe, but the music to me basically sounds like “classic rock” more than anything. Great songs and grooves. Seems like all 4 are (and were) excellent musicians. And it sounds like Ozzy was really quite a nice and classy fellow. And he raised like a hundred million for charity via the “Back to the Beginning” show just before he passed. Wonderful legacy he leaves behind.
  20. One of my favorites of his.
