    Jackie McLean

So, in your opinion, did Norman Connors ruin the session, as Jackie believed he did?
  6. Betty Carter would be a GREAT choice, no matter how they put it together.
  7. I bought one out of a cutout bin and instead of an Elvin record it was a Nina Simone club date in pretty poor sound quality. Not what I was either looking or hoping for.
  8. I think much or all of the metadata ends up in the Gracenote database (and probably others) based on whoever first popped the cd into some application and updated the database. For example sometimes when I have gotten a very recent Mosaic set, the metadata was not set up in applications like iTunes and I had to enter it myself.
  9. Just arrived from Japan and I had to put it into the transport. . . . “John Coltrane Quartet Plays” Impulse/Universal Japan SHM-SACD
  10. IIRC, at least some of those Honeydew Elvin albums had exceedingly long drum solos, which made them hard listens for me, even though I'm a big fan of his leader work in general.
  11. Now on to this classic, in mono form. Herbie Hancock “Maiden Voyage” Blue Note Japan Platinum SHM-CD And then More mono, this time re-listening to disc 4 of this great new Mosaic set. 300×300 17.8 KB Classic Decca Recordings Of Bob Crosby And His Orchestra & The Bob Cats (1936-1942) It’s interesting that this band grew out of the Ben Pollack band, a band I’ve always enjoyed.
  12. I don't think one can hold Mosaic responsible for the "tagging" of the digital files uploaded.
  13. Patricia Brennan: Of The Near And Far
  14. 👍 - sounds great too IMHO.
  15. Various: Metropol Jazz - Jazz Sounds from Norway. Harmoni H 505 [Norway 1963] https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropol_Jazz_Club Coleman Hawkins at Metropol Jazz Club in Oslo , Norway, February 1963. Coleman Hawkins (ts), Einar Iversen (p), Jarle Krogstad (b), Ole Jacob Hansen (dr)
  16. Someone who digitized the recordings, I guess? So wasn't Mosaic involved at some point (remastering, for example??) in this process for each of these recordings that went into their releases? Even if they weren't the first to have digitized the music.
  17. Do the labels create the metadata?
  18. Don Byas? Pop?? This??? What were they thinking at Mosaic?? I could understand the "pop" tag with some of his French ballad recordings from the 50s, but here??
