Mark Masters Jazz Ensemble featuring Gary Smulyan “American Jazz Institute presents Ellington Saxophone Encounters” A very well-recorded swinging disc that has scratched an itch for Ellington music.

Returning to the Fourth Symphony in this set: Picked up this set recently after having owned the companion set (Syms. Nos. 1-3) for a long while. I'm really impressed. I think Markevitch's entire Tchaikovsky cycle is terrific. -

I couldn't say what way is the most common, but I have heard a couple of different recordings with J.J.Johnson and he always seem to include those four bara. I think it's a nice way to conclude a solo and if you're doing several choruses I like to hear it at least in the final chorus.

He plays on 4-5 tracks on a Fred Hersch quintet album on Enja from 25 or so years ago.

Enormously prolific, I recommend Rich Perry´s later quartet recordings with Harold Danko for Steeplechase: "Gone" and "Mood". Many attractive sessions as sideman, too: I second colinmce: "Soft Hands" is an outstanding, drummerless album by Ron McClue, also very attractive the two horns line-up with Stephen Riley on McClures superb "Dedication". Also recommended: Perry on George Mraz´s quartet album "Bottom Lines" from the late Nineties.

Wrote maybe the best book about pro hockey, The Game. In the prime of his career, retired and held out for the entire '73-'74 season in a contract dispute. Instead he worked as a law clerk and finished his law studies.

Black Box: The Complete Black Sabbath 1970-1978 (8 CD/DVD)

Price reduced. Offered for sale is an amazing, and not very common, Black Sabbath box set: Black Sabbath - Black Box: The Complete Black Sabbath 1970-1978 (8 CD/DVD), Rhino, 2004. Everything (outer box, CDs, CD sleeves, DVD, hardcover book) is in Excellent condition. The outer box shows a little shelf wear as is typical of this box set due to the black felt covering of the outer box but it is in better condition than I usually see it in. Also, one of the inner CD cardboard boxes (there are 2 inner CD cardboard boxes that each hold 4 CD digipacks) has a little rubbing to one side edge from it being pulled in and out of the larger outer box. This is probably the best Sabbath CD box set, in terms of mastering (sound quality is amazing) and packaging. Check reviews on discogs (see link below). There are not many copies for sale on discogs and the lowest-priced copy currently for sale there from a U.S. seller is $147 ($130 - shipping+ tax) so I have priced this well below discogs prices. See discogs link below. https://www.discogs.com/release/689...-The-Complete-Original-Black-Sabbath-19701978 $110 (+ $10 media mail shipping, which includes postal insurance) U.S. shipping only Payment by pay pal friends/family. -
