What vinyl are you spinning right now??
Kevin Bresnahan replied to wolff's topic in The Vinyl Frontier
I have never understood why some producers call a small band like this quintet an "orchestra". It's not an orchestra, it's a quintet. -
Welcome aboard. I am trying to keep active on approving any new members as quickly as possible.

Took less than 24 hours for me to be accepted here. But I am using my real name and a personal email that matches. Thank you for accepting me @Kevin Bresnahan

It rained all day yesterday. Today, beautiful temperature and no rain. Memphis the American Bully was so happy that we took a flashlight walk and enjoyed the sounds and smells. Two deer crossed in front of us and he was so good, just sat when I told him to and took it all in. This dog surprises me with his demeanor. Got in the mail yesterday a cd that I am listening to, a sort of hard rock fusion band covering Thelonious Monk called "Brillian Coroners." A dynamic and intriguing listen.

It's not really different with the SACD or Redbook. We may be hearing the same things, and they matter more or less to one or the other.

Playing now. My favorite Hill record.

What rock music are you listening to? Non-Jazz, Non-Classical.

Maybe it's my system. Miles and Wayne sound fine, Herbie a little less so, and Ron/Tony difficult to hear. But I don't have an SACD set, so it might be different.

George Garzone. Turns out I have that record. George Garzone is a baaaaad man.

Just finishing Ray Brown's biography by Jay Sweet. Today, Thomas Pynchon's new novel "Shadow Ticket" was released. It takes place in 1933, thus completing TP's cycle of a novel for every decade of the 20th Century. This one involves the disappearance of a cheese heiress, with a Private Eye hot on the trail. It seems she ran off with a big band clarinetist. to Germany. Was it of her own accord? We'll soon find out...
