That Keynote box set is an amazing document of the swing-to-bop era before the long playing record changed the way we listen to and approach a jazz record session. Lots of these artists, and certainly these records, suffered relative neglect in the LP era. I'd also recommend the Mosaic box set of Capitol small group sessions, mostly marooned on 10-inchers.

Haven't listened to this one in a long time. Dizzy and Stitt are both outstanding. I like the way the piano solos of John Lewis exhibit a somewhat calm reserved sensibility but with true jazz depth after the multi-noted exciting solos from Diz & Stitt.

His website says that he played on the Botti At Sea Jazz cruise in February of this year, so it looks like he is still playing. His label, Blues Back Records, went belly up in 2011 but he seems to have a few more recordings on his website and bandcamp pages. Two of the CDs in the Signature Series box on his website don't seem to appear anywhere else, so you might want to check that out. I have no idea if any of these recordings are recent as they don't list recording dates for a any of them that I can find.

I have seen Wycliffe numerous times. He is a marvelous musician. He plays trombone, and a number of other brass horns. Wycliffe also sings. Wycliffe loves New Orleans style jazz as well as Swing style, Funk style and Bebop. His enthusiasm on the band stand makes his performance great fun.

Yes, saw him often in Göttingen ... https://peeteruuskyla.bandcamp.com/album/live-at-the-g-ttinger-jazzfest-1999 Here in a duo with Dr.phil. Ove Volquartz, longtime chairman of the Göttingen Jazz Festival. Both contributed to the recording with Cecil Taylor – see Uuskyla's recommendation below!
