  3. Oh I love this. One of my earliest mentors was the Austrian pioneer of Avantgarde Jazz Fritz Novotny (Reform Art Unit) and he pulled my coat to that record. Now listening: My greatest idol, I love him. I dedicated a special composition to him, album will be out for sale in February 2026...... Pharoah Sanders FOREVER !!!!!!!!!😍

  6. Some of the wildest Christmas jazz there is!
  7. I don’t upgrade issue wise a lot but I’ve never liked the Japanese reissue I had of this album and it’s one of my favorite jazz albums of all time. My parents just gave me the Acoustic Sounds edition and it’s a stunning improvement. Now I enjoy it even more.
  8. Miles Davis “Porgy and Bess” Sony Blu-Spec CD2 300×297 8.19 KB My appreciation for this recording has grown over the decades. The Evans arrangements are really fascinating to me.
  9. This is a very nice album. This working band shines in the studio. Harrell’s uniqueness carries on through his HIgh Note recordings. . . a style that is cohesive and involving. Tom Harrell “The Time of the Son” High Note cd
  10. A nice quiet Christmas . . . survived. Wish I could cancel the weekly brunch with sister- and brother-in-law, just don’t feel like going out but will. Cold, but no precipitation. The stereo is warming up and sounding so so good. Enjoying this Getz recording with the amazing Alex Blake on bass. Stan Getz “The Fiinal Concert Recording” Eagle cd disc 2
  11. I cannot understand letting Rob Refsnyder leave. Do they really prefer a fourth outfielder with more balanced stats? Refsnyder ranks with the very best hitters in the game over the past three years against southpaws and there are certainly some tough lefties in the division and league. A weapon like that ought not to be cast aside, and while his salary doubled, the increase is a rounding error in the context of the entire payroll. Dumb.
  12. I love these statements. Just as much as I dislike those who improvise on Monk tunes by Ranking the changes.
  13. Dieter Ilg (& Rainer Böhm, Patrice Heral): B-A-C-H (ACT Music)
  14. December 26 John Scofield - 1951 I saw him in a trio with Steve Swallow and Bill Stewart in Göttingen November 3, 2006
