Thanks for this wonderful commentary! That is indeed Walter Benton on track 4. Was not expecting him to be one of the players anyone IDed after a first listen. 13 is a band that's nigh inescapable on classic rock radio, but this is a recently "rediscovered" track of theirs.

Woke up to the sound of an owl hotting nearby in one of our trees. Always makes me happy to hear that! Gearing up to stand in the cold for hours today along with thousands nation-wide. . . I know I’ll wish it were warmer! Starting off with: Randy Weston with Monty Alexander “Montreux/Zaragoza & Ramatuelle Jazz Festivals 1988” In & Out cd This is as interesting a listen as I thought it would be. And sound is quite ggood as well. No bass or drummer, just the two pianists and two percussionists.

And how did you feel it. Can you write some lines, a little review, plz ....? Great News: The boss of the record company urged me to do the next album and I signed for renewed contract and we will be in the studios again in early autums so the next album can be out early next year, like it was with "Simmering". Meanwhile I have composed 4 new pieces for the next album, and we allready perform them live, or I perform them also with other guys since I am more in demand than just my own group. Sure is one thing: Lili remains my singer and I give here a very very substantial role in my projects. I also add her as co-autor to the tunes I write where she writes the lyrics. The next album might have more vocal pieces and only 2 instrumentals (a modal waltz COMPOSED BY MY GIRLFRIEND !!!!, and a heavy funk piece with the trumpet leading).

Last week I was looking for my earlier cd version of this title and decided to order the newer release as I know it would sound better. It sounds really good, a great mastering job imo. Charles Rouse “Two is One” Strata East cd IMG450×450 36.8 KB I note that it’s “Charles” not “Charlie” Rouse. Rouse with two guitars, cello, bass, drums and percussion. . . I like it.

I tend to agree, unfortunately. I added a few of these to my collection during recent months too and felt much like you did. Apparently contrary to how others on thos forum feel about these. (As shown in recent discussions here). Somehow his JATP and Granz Jam Session presence does more for me. But tastes differ and one man's meat, etc ... Congrats on your CC Benny Carter CD purchases. I bought two of these long, long ago to round off (more or less) my vinyls of his 30s and 40s recordings. Which I feel have a punch and edge that the backing groups of his later recordings somehow smother too often.
