  3. I think they played versions. The father of a friend of mine had that album and I'm trying to find it. They had a version wich started with Bach's Prelude.
  4. ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** *****
  5. Secret Sauce by Eric Ghost with Lincoln Goines and James McGilveray. Per the Bandcamp write up, Eric Ghost was the alias of Richard Barth Sanders, who apparently invented the paper blotter delivery mechanism for LSD. So a real pioneer I guess.
  6. My favorite and go to Bird box is the 8cd Complete Savoy and Dial that Savoy issued.
  7. He was the epitome of class and oh so knowledgeable. A loss. RIP.
  8. I too never wonder about anything like that. Moreover, you could say that about anything in your collection, and if your collection is large years could go by before you listen to something again. I have it and it’s one of my favorite Mosaics. I just loved listening to the jams. If that’s not your thing, you might want to take it in small bites. Did you ever listen to the JATP Verve issued of the 49s jams?
  9. Danny Ward & Reality 70s Funky jazz from Seattle
  10. What type of jazz did they play? I'm not familiar with the band name. Do you know when the album was released?
  11. Lots of new managerial hires already. None are marquee names. Interesting!
  12. This is a great tune
  13. Exactly! One of his most ephemeral solos, perhaps the most. It is almost inaudible when it ends, dissipating into the mist even more slowly than it enters it.
  14. Reuben Wilson appears - on piano - in the Schaap archive at Vandy. And backing Gatortail Jackson https://aviary.library.vanderbilt.edu/collections/2137/collection_resources/162818?u=t&keywords[]=reuben There are other recordings as well
  15. Brian's Buried Saxophones. Already with the subliminal sonic details.
  16. I think Columbia issued similar material?
  17. "It climbs hills like a Matchless", uhm no - a Matchless climbs hills like that Matchless G80 TCS, North American market only variant
  18. Reuben looks less than thrilled in that pic
  19. I also get listening ideas from organissimo threads. Sometimes somebody mentions a Mosaic set and I look at it and think hey that looks interesting let me check it out - and discover that I own it! Oops. I love having all this music.
  20. The liner notes state that it is radio broadcast material from 1937 and seems to be remotely recorded live with an audience. A mixture of the big band and small group. Charlie Christian is only on one small group track. The sound is surprisingly good.
  21. Yesterday
  22. thanks for these recollections... I did not realize he had Parkinson's. it is always sad when we lose a board member. Guy was many things to this community, that's for sure. And his positivity and enthusiasm underscored it all.
