  1. I believe Paul lost most of his tapes in a fire.
  2. Waymon Reed, Jimmy Forrest, Tommy Flanagan, Keter Betts & Bobby Durham
  3. Karen Borca plays bassoon on at least 5 other Jimmy Lyons dates and Joseph Jarman plays it on Lester Bowie's "Numbers 1 & 2". More to follow.
  4. Indeed. Those are DGG recordings. Find any Fricsay Bartok by him you can.
  5. Probably not unless I wrote my name in small letters on the back. Got in the habit after losing about a hundred lps from my dorm room.
  6. got that in the '60s and now long gone.
  7. Stopped in at Dusty Groove today and snagged these 2 -
  8. I started collecting BN 78s in the '70s, mostly concentrating on the 12" records - I have 41 of the 52 issued and 3 of the 5 George Lewis Climax sides. I have only 32 of the 10" issues. Cuscuna borrowed some for inclusion in this German box which contains the Jimmy Shirley "Stardust" mentioned earlier-
  9. Sorry, after 2 tries I couldn't make it through the cd because the sound was so irritating to me. I can't believe something more couldn't have been done.

Because he was spectacularly nasty to me, Roscoe Mitchell and Lester Bowie when we met with him in the late '60s. My blood starts to boil when I see his name.
  11. No, it's a 10 inch. 1200 series seems to be a short lived vocal series with the 2 Bernhardts and the Monk/Kenny Hagood record. The titles I have are "Meet Me On the Corner" and "Cracklin Bread".

Don't care. edit to say I really, really don't give a shit.
  13. Haven't listened in 20 years. Maybe I'll dig it out tomorrow. Memory says the Markham stuff is good. The Josh White items have Bechet on clarinet.
  14. I have a copy of BN 530, the Josh White (BN 23), one of the Markhams (BN 48) and one of the Bernhardts (BN 1202). I began collecting the 78s in the '80s.
  15. He made 2 sessions. The first is totally unissued (5 titles, 11 takes), the second produced Jimmy's Blues, 3 unissued titles and Stardust issued in a box set in Germany and Japan circa 1983.
  16. Missing are some stragglers by Josh White, Jimmy Shirley, Alamo "Pigmeat" Markham and Clyde Bernhardt.
  17. Add Hal Russell to the list.
  18. Revisiting the Ictus box - it's been a few years Starting with some Lacy
  19. It is highly unlikely Prestige would issue a record in a format that discourages airplay.
  20. They recorded 16 pieces at that session and titles from both lps were intermixed. I think they just pulled out the blues titles for one record.
  21. Urania original. followed by but my copy of this is mono.
