  1. Wonderful job Dan.
  2. First set, first night.
  3. I was on the programming committee in 1979 and programming chairman from 1980-1984. Larry was covering the arts/entertainment desk for the Tribune. Saw him every night of the fest as he dashed back to the office to file his reviews.
  4. The masters were sold off one by one. Bliue Note bought some, Delmark bought some and some slipped into limbo.
  5. Urvel Leeks - In the Hearts and Minds
  6. Narvell Felts - Rock-a-Billy King Vol. 3, The Lean Years
  7. As I just said on FB - Listening to my Hal Russell recordings tonight. I forgot how much I miss him.
  8. Walmart is looking for workers.

  11. Obviously on top of a giant milk shake.
  12. I first encountered his name in the early '60s on Bob Thiele reissues of Signature material with Hawk, Pres, etc.
  13. Great stuff. Had the Swingville lps and jumped on the cd when it was issued.
  14. The point I hoped to make was people tend to go for the cheap stuff at the expense of the new stuff. Sonny Stitts without artist or publishing fees are tough competition for working artists and their partners.
  15. "Oh, look a new Houston Person record for $15 or I could get 8 Sonny Stitt sessions of 4 cds for the same price. Sorry Mr Person".
  16. Has anyone looked behind the green door?
  17. Yes, everything is free/cheep and no creators are rewarded.
  18. I wish I still had my (mono only) lp of this - the cd was a huge disappointment.
