  1. Got this in 1966 or 67 when I worked at the Jazz Record Mart. It still sounds terrific.
  2. That box is amazing. So glad I copped it.
  3. Messages last night stunned me. Pete Crawford, friend since the mid '70s, staff at Flying Fish, replaced me at the US office of SteepleChase and replaced me at Tant Enterprises in Michigan. He was a partner in Red Beans records and Blues Etc. (bar and venue in Chicago). Later he moved to a farm near Petoskey, MI. Art Hoyle - master trumpet player was a gentle giant, great friend/advisor and much more. He is on the early Sun Ra records and became the first call lead for tons of Chicago gigs (especially Chicago's jingle biz). He was a board member of the Jazz Institute of Chicago and helped guide the group and Chicago Jazz in general. 4. Yep. We set up a first aid station in the back of our record store to flush tear gas from the eyes of folks on the street.

  6. This is happening in the city where I live. Watching it unfold is disquieting to say the least. Supposedly, police are spreading a rumor of busloads of "protesters" on the way to Buffalo as we speak. It will be an interesting weekend.
  7. Revisited this old friend last night.
  8. Fun stuff from the B team.
  9. Shirley Horn w/her regular trio and Frank Wess guesting on a few tunes. Japanese Sony release from 1987.
  10. June 4 marks the 75th circle around the sun for my friend Anthony Braxton. May everything break his way. Thank you. I have known him from 1967. He returned from the Army and Muhal Richard Abrams introduced us.
  11. Haven't followed all the details of this topic but I have a pic somewhere from around this time of a front line of Miles, JJ and Sonny Stitt. I think it was in a Down Beat Yearbook.

  13. Every once in a while I wallow in this for the afternoon.
  14. I am really smart but I can be stupid. Did not make that error.
  15. IIRC, I have Schnabel, Kempff 1, Wuhrer, Brendel 1, Gould and Rosen. Have probably disposed of a dozen.
