  1. link didn't work. This one does - https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/john-zorn-jazz-metal-interview-naked-city-1015329/
  2. Reminds me of a day at a record store in Chicago circa 1968 - Customer asks for the new Gaber Sasbo record an the new one by Ditsy Gillipsy. These were 2 new Impulse releases IIRC.
  3. The WFMT studios were above my place of work in the late '60s. I worked at Discount Records at Lake and LaSalle in Chicago. Studs occasionally came down to ask me for help finding appropriate music for his shows. One time I remember him asking for Mahalia Jackson recommendations since she had passed. He was a fascinating character, Edit to say as far as he knew, my name was "Hey Kid".
  4. Ray stayed on in Chicago for a few months - don't remember details now. BTW the drummer was supposed to be Blakey but he withdrew to tour Japan and Jimmy brought his regular guy.
  5. Ray was always interesting. And a nice guy. I had some personal experiences with him for a year or two.
  6. Always ready for Byard Lancaster.
  7. I am bewildered by all the complaints - I send and receive stuff via USPS almost daily and have only had one problem in the last 10 years I can think of. I do "shudder" when I see DHL is in the mix - that can add about 4 days to the delivery.
  8. Always admired the drum sound on this date.
  9. Lot of good stuff in that box.
  10. This reminded me to pull this out. I saw them perform this at Northwestern University back in the day.
  11. Then you should look for this.
  12. Silly excuse. It could be used to arrest the president.
  13. Another advantage of age. My grandparents bought original Jelly Roll Morton Victors. And I got it around the same time as the George Russells, but I sold them when I got the cd.
  14. Yeah, that is reasonable - "roughly" covers a lot of ground.
