  4. Back in the day I accompanied Michael Frank of Earwig to Pittsburgh for some recording sessions with Arter and Tiny Irvin. A bit later Stanley said "so you met my mentor" with a big smile.

  7. Mingus started at least 2. Duke and Irving Mills had Master. Dozens in the last decade.

  10. While my attention was concentrated elsewhere I missed the Braxton, Threadgill and Clifford Jordan boxes - all artists I have had professional relationships. When Mosaic was selling "partials" I asked Cuscuna for items from these sets. He responded "THOSE ARE THE TITLES YOU MISSED!" and told me notthing remained. This week I was able to purchase the Braxton here from a member. One down, two to go.
  11. What he said. This is an amazing experience. Unfortunately we won't be able to make it this year - we are going to San Francisco for the NEA Jazz Masters event on April 2.
  12. My father collected Lionel trains for decades and we still have a bunch. Today we opened up 2 shrink wrapped sets to make sure they work so we can give them to our two grandkids.

  14. I'm partial to the solo recordings. The initial plan was to record solo versions of his composition catalog but sadly it was never completed. The trio with NHOP and Billy Hart are nice too.
