  1. Uli was manager/bartender for Fred Anderson's Velvet Lounge from 2001 'til the closing in 2010. Since then he followed the music scene in a number of Chicago venues. I most frequently encountered him at Constellation.
  2. Memorial for Velvet Lounge Keeper Uli Reist, Saturday Oct 12, 2019 @1-5pm The Hungry Brain 2319 W Belmont Ave
  3. You made me order one.
  4. I might never listen again, after 2 attempts.
  5. Have that on cd - good.
  6. All you said is true.
  7. Hank's favorite recording.
  8. In spite of the silly translations on the cover, wonderful recordings.
  9. Fine pianist and seemed like a good guy.
  10. Check out this cd for an idea of the deep south religious roots of a bunch of our music.
  11. Somehow wandered into the vocal section today.
  12. Wallington with Curly Russell and Max. I have the original lp but am listening to the cd version.
  13. Bobby will also be at Edgefest at the Kerrytown Concerthouse. https://www.kerrytownconcerthouse.com/edgefest/
  14. I was at that session.
  15. Just stumbled on this ancient thread and was sucked in again.
  16. Mine arrived today.
  17. Early Monk, Herbie Nichols and Andrew Hill for starters on BN. Other labels as well.
  18. I have another half dozen Aerophonics and will probably fill in most of the holes. I am a fan.
  19. The two new ones and #17 and #19.
  20. I just ordered 4 Aerophonic titles from their (Dave Rempis') site.
  21. I believe that would be a fold down, not dedicated mono.
  22. CD sales are fading fast - feel lucky you don't have over $15,000 of inventory (at cost) in your basement. Just like the days at the real end of lps when I lost about $25,000 in record jackets. Anyone want to start recording music to share with the world?
  23. Will be seeing Keefe Jackson, Mike Reed and others at Elastic Arts in Chicago tonight. https://elasticarts.org
