  1. Looking for an appropriate package for mail. NOW THIS: If you have paid attention, you know Ann and I are moving from Michigan to Buffalo, NY. After 4 months of purges and sales, we sent 3 Pods ahead and after the closing on our house the furniture will follow in a regular van line. Today the Pods folks informed us they are not allowed to drop the pods on the street to unload. We will have to take trucks to their warehouse and "re-transport" our goods to the house. Crap like this is .............
  2. A wonderful stylist and a fine voice. She made my life better.
  3. Diz and Dave Usher owned the label. Usher was an interesting Detroiter. Check him out.
  4. But if you look closely you will see we have no gutters.
  5. Composer and friend Mary Jane Leach has been working for years to expose the music of Eastman - https://www.mjleach.com/projects.htm.
  6. I have loved and hated his recordings since high school (1959-62) when I first got them from the Columbia Record Club. Up and down over the years and I decided to buy the big Columbia box, put it on the shelf and sample when the mood strikes. Certainly no final decision expected before my death.
  7. A fine disc. I had all this on a couple of lps.
  8. As you must know, this is Ann's work.
  9. https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/123-Tulgeywood-Ln_Whitehall_MI_49461_M46291-89208 Life is a bunch less expensive here than in urban areas. We have accepted an offer, but the sale is "live" for about a month.
  10. They were brittle styrene pressings. Had a few.
  11. Ignore this stuff and make your own lists. Then ask yourself why stuff other folks love isn't on your list. Sample, study and grow.
  12. Producers are at their best when they know to step back.
  13. Not sure how much they have done lately. This is the most recent recording I own.
  14. Just beginning to remind my self of this music.
  15. Ira told me whenever he recorded with Red, Red would have him play saxophone on all tunes 'til the end and then do a 2 trumpet piece when Ita's chops were gone.
  16. Joe, Jim and his truly. charlesp was there that night as well.
  17. Status is Prestige too.
  18. I guarantee I am equally smug and condescending in both jazz and classical.
  19. I don't usually follow this thread, but want to advocate for "Mudbound". Sorry if it has been discussed/dismissed earlier.
  20. The "evaluator" spoke of contracts and other papers - they might be the important pieces for history, but none of it is worth much on the "market". Hope it is all preserved somewhere.
  21. Gotta get. Thanks for the reminder.
  22. Fantastic recording. I also have this stereo (edited) version:
  23. A few possibilities here - the masters were sold in blocks of master numbers and genres had their own numerical series. I know Delmark passed on the popular series(1000/1100) and thus missed out on the Luis Russell sides (to their regret). Maybe the lp masters were in the pop series or had their own. Maybe Delmark has the Di Pippo masters but decided against issuing it - they didn't have much luck with their Leon Sash release. I do believe Delmark feels they have exhausted the possibilities.
