  1. All we want are the facts. I think he was listening to Vonski Speaks! I hope that's the defense.
  2. Paps, you are in Florida - go over, sort this crap out and report back!
  3. I'm really amazed not one person has remarked about Von being in his 80s when this was recorded. This encourages me. Now, 7 years later he has lost some stamina but nothing else. Thanks to all for the nice comments.
  4. My only complaint is the earlier version had 3 bonus tracks. The new mastering probably sounds a bit better.
  5. Probably Ray Ross. He died in 2004. Maybe something can be learned from his NYT obit.
  6. One of my favorite Pablos.
  7. Those were not the guys making the breakthroughs.
  8. I love his bowed solos on those Dolphy era albums...microtonal! . Not by design.
  9. I made a comment like that to my old departed friend Don DeMichael. He was horrified. I will never forget that reaction from one of my early "gods".
  10. Many folks are grateful to know where he is.
  11. Well, Ann fixed a 20 lb turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, scalloped corn, cranberry sauce, gravy, rolls and asti spumante. We ate at 3 pm and have a pumpkin pie lurking about. We may not eat again until Saturday. It is just the two of us this year so we will have lots of leftovers. Tomorrow Ann will make noodles for her killer turkey soup. Bringing that out of the freezer in Feb is a treat. Otherwise, we eats lots of bird and side dishes for a week.
  12. NYT obit
  13. The "extraneous overtones" is my favorite feature of PC's bowing.
  14. He looks like a guy who might kill my dog and laugh.
  15. Malachi Favors solo on Roscoe Mitchell's Sound had amazed me since 1966.
  16. I really resent this shit. Live with what you post or go away. the same goes for your edits.
  17. then the answer is "getting paid".
  18. Nothing compared to folks making really original music.
  19. Answering the original question - no.
  20. Sorry. After buying the lps as issued/reissued and many remasters of cds, I think this is silly, especially since it takes money away from purchases of music you don't have, better versions with extra material, or going out to hear some live band.
