  1. With the state of Michigan's (and especially Lansing, Michigan's) current housing market, I'd say no. The better option is a security system of some kind. An even better option is a big dog! He could move to my area of Whitehall and have SWAT teams in his front yard.
  2. Only one place if you are serious.
  3. Thought your family was into inbreeding and you be talkin' 'bout a gene pool.
  4. His body was found around 3:31 PM, but you heard about it this morning. Could I have the name of your crystal ball gazer? Or the name of the reporter.
  5. Have to admit I checked my set (I've had it for almost 3 years) and I'm ok. I've played the set a couple of times but feared I'd been "brain dead" part of the time.
  6. This just in from the NYTimes: Might this be folks avoiding the "rent control police"?
  7. If you are sure they are motherfuckers that should be a big help to the police. Really sorry to hear this Joe. I hope nothing important to you is gone. All the best. Sorry, I just couldn't avoid my first line.
  8. Hard to believe your math hasn't been corrected
  9. Reel to reel and rare as hell.
  10. Selling 78s is a tough go these days unless you have a shitload of Paramounts, Claxtonolas, Dials, etc. Most folks are just happy to find good homes for them. Reality is something like $.10 apiece and haul them away (as a courtesy). I don't think the time involved in making a list is time well spent unless you think you have something special. Since you are in Chicago, a phone conversation with Bob Koester at JRM/Delmark might be worthwhile.
  11. Wasn't the Pepper Omega release tape only?
  12. Thanks Margaret. Next time you see Cecil, please give him my greetings. How are you folks doing?
  13. Home made potato soup with spicy sausage, grilled cheese w/spicy gouda and whole grain bread, milk and an apple.
  14. I don't understand about the Lytle sessions. Weren't his records fairly popular by the jazz record co. standards of the time? Or was that just his later stuff for Prestige (or was it Muse?) -- or did his stuff never sell much for anybody? I didn't understand it at the time and just guessed OK didn't have a clue.
  15. I just have to say badges like XR mastering (or whatever) sound too much like an attempt to seduce folks with bs and make me suspectful. The recording biz, the auto industry, the cold cereal industry, etc is filled with this stuff. I just suspect/hate phony titling of work - it is either good work or not. If it is good, it should find an audience and you might be able to sell it to the folks holding the original masters. If it is really a new software program worthy of a patent, tell us more. edit for typo
  16. Geez! FWIW, the first time I encountered Orrin Keepnews, some 30+ years ago, I thanked him for the Henry recordings. He looked "mock shocked" and said something like Amazing, I thought those were just good deeds leading to nothing, just like my Johnny Lytle sessions - but someone recently mentioned those too. Then he slapped me on the shoulder and walked away.
  17. You're on. Within a month or forget about me.
  18. As always.... As usual, you misread everything.
  19. Next time I'm in town, dinner is on me.
  20. I think I'll have me some waffles!
  21. Gotta say I never saw Clifford lick anything. Welcome to the board.
  22. I was recording this series for Ann and the second recording messed up, AND it was the night of the Michigan primaries. The program was really destroyed by local news interruptions and a news "crawl" at the bottom of the screen. Can anyone supply a dvd of the 2nd show? Thanks.
