  2. I suggest traveling with a want/dream list. When confronted with so many choices, the brain tends to freeze. Take a friggin' list.

  5. If you buy from DG online, you escape the sales tax - depending on the size of the order, that could pay for the shipping.
  6. I believe you mean Illinois and Wabash.
  7. No time to post the story here but I saw a very touching Duke / Paul exchange with all in tears. They were very connected.
  8. In the mid-'50s Ellington did himself on Bethlehem, much to the displeasure of M. Hodeir. Around the same time Rex Stewart assembled a bunch of Fletcher Henderson alum for a masterpiece called The Big Reunion. Earlier Lu Watters and Turk Murphy dealt with '20s music by a bunch of artists. This stuff has been going on for decades with ever-diminishing results. Why not learn the originals? I fear most listening to the "tributes" have never digested the originals.
  9. Miles was on that?! Sounds very much like Miles! Several Miles Davis discographies list the album. Others do not. There were rumors that John Coltrane was one one of the sessions. A tenor solo on 'Besame Mucho' was attributed to Coltrane but Legrand denied it. Legrand did not deny Miles' participation. I believe Philips aka Universal owns all the Legrand masters. They were issued on Columbia in the US via and exchange deal between Philips and Columbia.
