  1. Great story. All the best to the two of you.
  2. Am I the only one who finds this little tidbit very disturbing? All fine and dandy on the "soul mate" front and the search for good vibes in partnership and marriage, but I sincerely hope some of Mike's best friends told him he was an utter jerk in this respect; if not for leaving the mother of his 4 month old child, then for not leaving her 13 months earlier. Unless you know all of the circumstances, John, I don't think you should judge. What if she had told him she was on the pill and lied and that is how she got pregnant? What if she is the one to shut him out and prevent contact? I don't know what the law is in Germany but in the States a Father may have money taken out of his paycheck to cover court-ordered child support and at the same time, barring allegations of abuse, Fathers have visitation rights. Either way though I would not judge anyone's choices unless they went running because they refused to support or have any concern for their child. Whatever the story, it was a disturbing post for me.

  4. Original US release was on Columbia.
  5. I had the same reaction when I recently found one covering 1966-80.
  6. I said "starange" as did you, knucklehead.
  7. Starange you should say something like that.
  8. Does this mean he's minus 2 cigars?
  9. WTF happened to "tone controls" and equalizers? In the (real) days of vinyl the audio freaks had individual "curves" for each of their favorite records. edit for silly typo
  10. Sorry to intrude on an American League thread. Go Cubs.
  11. Fine record, as is the other side. My favorite recordings of these works.
  12. Stupid DJ.
  13. BS - it said there are 0 people in the US named Nessa. I know of about 100 and can provide a picture (taken in December, at my father's memorial celebration) of around 15. you are definitely an uncommon sort. Probably little to do with the name.

  15. I got queasy from just looking. Vomit inside the helmet would not be pretty.
  16. I'm currently looking for 12 1/4 x 12 1/4 x 5 at a reasonable price.
  17. Siegfried and Roy.
  18. How does one gast a flabber?
  19. Correct. The lp masters would have be cut from the session masters. Why not?, the tapes would never leave Rudy's studio - he cut the lp masters too. It was different with the "majors".
  20. Gotta beat someone. Defense?
  21. The Verve sessions would have been recorded at Rudy's. Don't have any version of the "Iron City" date any more but a quick listen should tell you if it was recorded there. If it was, it is the Verve tapes.
  22. Rudy Van Gelder Van Johnson John Johnson
  23. Feather, an Englishman, came to the US and worked tirelessly to promote jazz. He did a lot of good. Sadly, and to his detriment, he never missed an opportunity to promote himself, his songs and his accomplishments. This took a darker side later when he tried to kill careers of folks not "playing ball" with him. His memory would be a bunch kinder if not for his greedy personality. I was banned from AAJ for commenting on the quality of his daughter's talent. Leonard is dead but I'm still banned.
  24. Holy Crap!!
