  1. Captions please...... Deep Trout.
  2. They throw out more than they keep. Not necessarily dictated by the collection at hand.
  3. Don't give a shit. Don't pay for radio.
  4. what projects do you have in mind? adroit as you and michael mosaic are, you should both be getting huge blank checks. Was never asking for money, just proposing the folks whining for stuff write a budget for the material they want. Never got any takers.
  5. Maybe you should have bought some music by Frank and Don first.
  6. Man Ray Ray Danton Shirley McClaine.
  7. I thought this was going to be about a budget to RECORD some music. I've asked for this from "listeners" for years.
  8. Gee Larry, I was agreeing with you and then you went into "green magic marker land". What a bunch of crap.
  9. If you search for info on the author, I believe the following is true. He never heard of Warne while Mr. Marsh was alive. He heard a numbers of stories from a couple of self proclaimed "insiders". He decided there was a book in this story. From my perspective with "limited contact" with Warne, much of the book is speculation and third hand stories. I suspect one of the sources for the "semi-fiction" from a story about an event where I was a major player. As I said, he gets some stuff right but enough is "out in left field" to ruin the good stuff.
  10. top of my list. was he as cool as his wonderful music? Yes he was but FIRST buy An Unsung Cat by Safford Chamberlain - not great, but honest. It is much drier, but truthfull. I was intrigued by the Cornelius book but was spoiled by knowing facts when he has the "Marsh character" saying things he would have never said. It is hard to take something seriously while knowing other things.
  11. First buy music. If you do that well your collection will be worth money. Next - I sold an original of Watkins' Transition (missing one label) for $1000 12 years ago. Next - I bought the BN twofer including the above music and 2 more Transition dates for about $20. Now - think about it. Another thing worth noting - Transitions were pressed of friggin' styrene! Personally, I believe the "fetishism" for "originals" has little to do with music. I am interested in music. Call me stupid.
  12. One could die in those thighs.
  13. Every engineer has his habits/tricks. Take the bass - wrap an rca mike in a towel and stuff it under the bridge, place mike xxa six inches in front of the bridge, place mike xxb near the f hole, etc, etc. You can do this stuff for any instrument. They could (and did) eq each instrument to their taste. To remix any session properly requires an understanding of the techniques used, the reason for them and the best way to play them back. Many of these choices were made to compensate for the way the tapes would be interpreted by mastering engineers of the day - and their goals. Not an easy thing to understand if you haven't been working in this area.

I'm sure it didn't sell many copies and it was deleted in about 2 years. Just wanted to point out I was in "big time record retail" at the time and never saw cut-outs of this title. Maybe all 300 went to your locality.
  15. I never thought Dewey dug as deeply into Blackwell's time as possible. Maybe I missed something.
  16. But it might be podcast.
  17. Snub Mosley Spud Murphy Potato Valdez
  18. Foster and Barbarin.

Bought it when issued and never saw it as a cutout. I'd have bought 10 if that had happened.
  20. Not as important as the listening loss.
  21. Steve Allen was Buck Hammer.
  22. Depends if you got it on one disc.
  23. Yes. There was only one pressing. Braxton decided to let it go.
