  1. Is Al really Ron McMaster? Is the band listed as Stxus on the spine of the cdr case?
  2. Music is at best the music of youth/hormones for most Americans. After "youth" most of us gravitate to nostalgia to perpetuate an illusion of youth. Few Americans have an understanding of works beyond this pop culture. The idea of stuff to stimulate the heart and mind beyond personal experience is gone by adulthood.
  3. Me either.
  4. The "darkish green/blue drawing" was from the original issue on the Hifi label.
  5. I have not heard the session. I've known about the session since the mid '70s and based my response on conversations with McLean and Cuscuna.
  6. 'cause it sucks. As I understand only first takes were made 'cause JM was unhappy with the drummer and wanted the session over. Gotta respect the wishes of the leader.
  7. All of his stuff is "by the numbers". Nothing to surprise, but much comfort. OK but not really my cup of tea.
  8. Must be you. I get everything.
  9. Screw your lawn. Moss is taking over mine - still green.
  10. Brunswick was licensed to "Columbia" in the early days of the depression and when the lease expired, the name went to "Columbia" and Decca bought the original masters. If you want the details, pm me and give me time to go thru my papers.
  11. Sunday morning breakfast at the Carnegie Deli, the only patrons are me and Terry Martin at the front and a large table at the back. Quickly, Henny walks from the back to our table carrying a new baby. He says "meet my new ......". I can't remember if it was a grandchild, fourth left cousin or whatever - just nice.
  12. Did you ask him about Bud Freeman?
  13. You have to burn the machine. You might want to hammer it first, but burn the sucker. Then send fresh money to some hardware supplier and more money to Bill Gates. Everything will be ok for a while. You do know this is your fault.
  14. Sorry to hear this but it leaves me wondering how one "commits apparent suicide".
  15. Yeah, it's the garden state. I heard that before.
  16. Yes indeed, a bit upstream the thread... GOIN' HOME one of the first albums that came to mind. (Don't know if that was its original title--I have the Black Lion CD. Wasn't this session the flipside to WITCHES & DEVILS?) This show's for the upcoming Easter weekend. Recorded the same day as Witches and Devils but NEVER the flipside. It was first issued (from cassette dubs) on Osmosis vinyl. Eventually Black Lion/Freedom (actual owners) brought it out with some alts. Maybe you had to be there. I re-state my recommendation for the Shepp/Parlan Goin' Home on SteepleChase. Also, how 'bout Booker T. "Go Tell It on the Mountain". That should mix things up. You might also play
  17. None of us dudes is ok. If we were fine, we'd be elsewhere.
  18. Get back East! Nothing good for you in AZ!
  19. Do you EVER buy music from the people who either made or own it?
  20. Have your tried Amazon and Half?
