  1. Big dif between solosits and section players - both valuable, but different. Seen recs of both here. Washington, Carney, Chaloff are tops in my book.

    Dewey Left Town!

Thanks for the link. I knew these guys had feelings for Dewey and went to their site yesterday to find nothing. Gotta get in touch with Ethan.
  3. All my favorites are soundies. Duke, Fats, Basie, Cab, etc.
  4. Some were unhappy about the selections and some bitched about editing done without consultation. I must say at least one was clueless. John McDonough (spelling might be wrong), author of the Hawkins book, claimed ignorance when I bitched about the omission of Hawk's "The Man I Love". He didn't even know the damn recording.
  5. If all else fails, I have a copy. No scanner. Get in touch.
  6. Try McGann, McGann. I see it is available at Amazon.
  7. Most comments about No Noise (Sonic Solutions) and Cedar are broad strokes without understanding they are both "suites" with multiple tasks and different possibilities. Each of the tasks can be controlled like a rheostat. All kinds of possibilities are available. I have used parts of No Noise and Cedar on the same piece of tape.
  8. Charo makes me really nervous. She's done that for about 30 years.
  9. Now I have the release "in hand": Studio Volume 1 1. Fall With A Vengeance (20:13) 2. Untitled Fiction (18:05) Studio Volume 2 1. Corrosion (16:43) 2. Cards (25:30) "Live"; Radio 1. Fall With A Vengeance (17:33) 2. Untitled Fiction (16:12) 3. Corrosion (17:37) 4. Cards (24:39) All recorded October, 2005 Set is available from me for $21. If you need more details contact me.
  10. You could try THIS
  11. I only have a couple of his recordings and from that example agree with the statements made so far.
  12. I too am a big fan of the gecko.
  13. I bet he's referring to the "Legendary Classics" series of the late '80s. I still have the Monteux Eroica (plus rehearsal) from that program and is should sound much better.
  14. Don't think anyone mentioned the JSP set ignores the 2 sessions from 1939 giving the RCA eleven more tracks and Sidney Bechet to boot.
  15. Couple of days ago I was in Kentucky - Mammoth Cave National Park - driving down the road and a dude on a bike is weaving side to side. I surmise he's either drunk or "emotionally disabled" and cut a huge curve around him. As I passed, he's on a friggin' phone!
  16. Could I be any "softer"?
  17. I think this team has convinced coach K to stay away from the pro teams. Unless he's a friggin' idiot.
  18. He did work that was part of my life. I am grateful. Thanks Mr Goldblatt.
  19. Hope you might have something besides commerce to discuss next time you post.
  20. All the stress will make you stronger. More bs to follow. All the best.
  21. My sister loves that band. Please post her cell number for interested parties.
  22. Wouldn't it be easier if we all just put our money in Nessa Records? Same deal.
