  1. Hot House was Marguerite's invention. After a few years of struggles and stress she registered it as a "not for profit" corp and set up a board of directors so she could get grant money. Now that board has taken control. She's not the easiest person to get along with but she IS Hot House. This is not good.
  2. You can read about it HERE and on the blog link on that page.
  3. You should have had some popcorn and gone to bed.
  4. Paul got it right except the Flying Dutchman lp was a reissue of an lp first issued on the Contact label. This is desert island stuff. FWIW the Pres items were originally issued under Wells name.
  5. This must have been about my 10th Ellington record. I bought is as a college freshman and loved it right away. Wonderful date - I love it. My first copy was a mono UAJ original, then a stereo United Artists reissue, then a stereo UAJ original, then the first cd. Now I think I'm listening to my 3rd cd edition. Great listening for 40+ years.
  6. Nice observation. Kinda like Monk saying Steve Lacy was "the guy who played WORK right".
  7. Some posters here must have really small ...............

  9. I understand you might be disoriented by leaving the political arena but there has been extensive discussion about shipping/delivery times HERE.

  11. Can't let this day pass without saying: Hearing, meeting, working with and knowing Roscoe has had a profound influence on my life. Thanks Rock.

  16. Duke Ellington has a boulevard there so maybe you can find him playing on the street.
  17. Yes, it's UA Music and Records Group, from the label. So that was after the management buy-out. If they were flogging off Horace Silvers dirt cheap to the cutout merchants, rather than keeping them as a steady seller, they must have been in REAL trouble. I always assumed EMI bought the company as a decently going concern. This suggests otherwise. MG Between the late '60s and late '80s the "company" changed hands at least 2 times (probably 3). EMI took over after the previous owner defaulted on loans for manufacturing and distribution. EMI got the whole bunch "for a song". Distressed merchandise is what we call it over here.
  18. I just had chills.
  19. Farewell "Betty Blackhead".
  20. Whitaker Chambers Mr P C Paul's Pal
  21. It is spelled Nonaah Mr Smarty Pants. And, it will be a 2 disc set.
  22. Why not? Because you say so? It seems Mr Hans has blocked PMs or PMs from me. I want to let him know I picked "Duke Pearson" out of the air. I could have said Charlie Parker, Albert Ayler, Duke Ellington, Roscoe Mitchell or Don Ewell. It was an example.
  23. Not exactly "tonsils" though clearly related. When my younger brother was about 5 years old he had to have his adenoids removed. If they were tonsils, they'd have said "tonsils". I also notice that the Wikipedia article says that adenoids are often removed at the same time as a tonsillectomy. Clearly not the exact same things. Correct. I remember my brother had his out at about age 8. Then (in the mid '50s) they removed the tonsils "since they were in there". I resented all the ice cream he received. -_-
