  1. You dang kids and your silly opinions!
  2. Dick Marx Dick Nixon Dick America - that's what he did.
  3. AND the Kemp band could really swing.
  4. I'm sure the "Grand Opening" will coincide with the Chicago Jazz Festival. Smart.
  5. I think the Getz/Peterson session is wonderful (and I'm no Peterson fan). One of my favorite Getz dates. The Hawk/Roy/Rabbit session is very good but not as good as the Hawk material from the earlier evening - but the cd does include bonus tracks with Hawk and rhythm from that gig.
  6. I wanna know what a " first generation CD off of soundboard" is. It could be the first cd copy of a 15th generation cassette "off of the soundboard". It sounds interesting but I prefer my King earlier. Folks have to understand some "soul jazz" and bunches of "blues artists" performed differently in front of different audiences. I'd pay $100 for a cd of BB live at Silvio's in 1965.
  7. I thought that was the 3 "In Europe" lps.
  8. 20+ years ago Gus Statiras (aka Gus Grant) offered the alternates to me (claiming them to be a complete alt duplicate of the issued record) and I suspect a number of other labels. Eventually they were issued on Progressive. It is my understanding Fantasy sued, stopped sales of the Progressive issue and got the tapes. Those tapes are probably the source of the alternates on the Prestige cd.
  9. Neither Smith of Little play on the 2 unreissued tracks from the Young Men From Memphis date.
  10. This was a busy/productive month for Hawk. Aug 13 - Alive at the Village Vanguard - Verve Aug 15 - Hawkins, Eldridge, Hodges Alive - Verve Aug 16 - Make Someone Happy - Prestige Aug 18 - Duke Ellington Meets Coleman Hawkins - Impulse Sept 9/11 - Today and Now - Impulse Sept 12/17 - Desafinado - Impulse
  11. Johnny Mathis' Greatest Hits. Columbia red label.
  12. Sounds like a slap tongue bass or baritone. Why in heck is the trombone player limited to jug an butt in this clip? Is that where sackbut came from?
  13. Laz, I suggest playing some stuff trom that '83 ICP program you have on radio transcriptions. Great stuff.
  14. She's an intelligent woman and expert keyboard player. For my taste she's a pounder. Happy Birthday.
  15. Silly fight. Some of you are hip and the rest are not. Please choose sides and report.
  16. Just wait till you see the crowd at Tritone. (I'm looking forward to seeing Randy dive into a mosh pit.) Based on the crowd, what color outfit will you be wearing Ron? If you say "peach" I might make the trip.
  17. To answer the original question, AMG lists some links to folks selling it if you want to pay the bucks.
  18. Sure, and you can find the one with Hodges and Eldridge for $20+ too, but it's not easy to justify when there are $2.98 cds out there.
  19. That one is tough to find. I never saw one in a store and finally got one used. It's companion Hawkins disc is hard to find as well.
  20. Concord's already pissed at Chuck because he refused to sell them Nessa Records. $15 per disc post paid. They didn't bite.
  21. Gary Burton on vibes.
  22. I think this is a new "delayed message" feature for Ubu alone.
  23. Signature not required. Mine was at the door.
  24. Some are available elsewhere and others are not. I guess it depends on quantities still in the pipeline.
