  1. I'm looking for the first two Classics cds (1921-24 & 1924-26) as well as EPM Jazz Archive "Clarence Williams Vol 3" (1925-26). Any help would be appreciated.
  2. Just saying this was a Cecil date, nomatter the current packaging. This session is famous for the problems in the studio. Cecil was happy with Coltrane's playing but the recording (as a whole) is a bump in the road for Cecil. Once all this is absorbed, it's a fascinating document. Don't dump it - you might grow into it.
  3. Is the TAXDAY6 code still good for another 15%? I ordered 8 cds on Monday for a good deal.
  4. Since this was a Cecil Taylor date, you should look at the participants from his side.
  5. I'll leave that for others. FWIW, I have 67 cds, 10 lps and uncounted tapes of Mr. Taylor.
  6. Not gonna bust your balls for the misspelling BUT why would you base any opinion of Cecil on this odd date?
  7. I have. If WBEZ's programming was fairly vanilla, WDCB's is even less interesting. Then again, I'm a partisan of the far more cutting edge WNUR show. NUR rules!!!!! And how powerful is their transmitter now? When I lived in Chicago (5000 N - about a mile from the border) I had to drive to Evanston to get the signal. I taped a show for them once and had to ride around in my car to get the friggin' signal. nur.org rules... So they turned off the transmitter and "stream" only? Thought we were talking about Chicago radio stations.
  8. So, we're not talking about corn meal?
  9. This means people from Iowa are only a few weeks behind the times!
  10. Thank God. I thought this was another of those years passing before my eyes things!

  12. Thanks for the list. First place I've seen it.
  13. Duh! Most American prizes are "crap". Too market oriented. Sorry, congrats to the Monk family.
  14. It was many years ago but I remember liking Memento Mori. I'm feeling guilty right now. Thanks for tweaking my conscience.
  15. He could have done something else.
  16. Thanks Mr Kramden.
  17. NOT Bill Coleman.
  18. The sax player looks a bit like Chris Woods.
  19. Just in time for the new cd reissue.
  20. Bailey was a very interesting singer (of her time) with intelligent backgrounds. I think the old Columbia 3 lp set was about ideal for most folks. I'd buy that Legacy reissue in a minute. But I found the Mosaic set too big and too expensive for the music. I'm happy they issued the complete set and happy to not buy it. Berkshire has offered the Andoran reissue of 4 discs at "cut-out" prices and I've resisted that. Sorry Mildred.
  21. CM was a "decent" player at one point, then he took another path to money. That is fine for him. He had a choice of "art/music" or "music/income". He chose one. It worked out for him (for a while) and it might have worked for you. It didn't work for me. DSFDF.
  22. Very superficially.
