  1. Sounds interesting. I'll be in touch.
  2. "In East Berlin" was not part of the box. "Legba Crossing" was supposed to be exclusive to the box but some were sold separately.
  3. It was reissued on Concord, so you have 2 covers to look for.
  4. For some people this is a serious question. Personally I think it is easy to over estimate the Ra influence on the AACM guys. Mr Blount left the city about 5 years before the AACM was chartered and most members were too young to have had much meaningful contact with the Arkestra. I'm sure the forthcoming AACM history by George Lewis will cover this in some detail.
  5. I'm about to finish my 3rd Rolling Rock.
  6. In the '70s I worked for a classical label and the art director brought in a "first draft" of an album cover with the name Shostacockavich.
  7. Congratulations to all involved!

  9. The film soundtrack is performed by Nora Jones' dad. Ornette's score was rejected.
  10. Thanks for your information and efforts P.L.M. I hope Anthony is ok.
  11. Yikes! Thanks Hans. I had not seen this.
  12. Welcome, Matt.
  13. I couldn't imagine him working in a Hamburger Hamlet either. I can envision Terri in a waitress costume however.
  14. Good Luck! It ain't easy.
  15. The Legacy site lists 4 prewar discs being issued today - Lucille Bogan, Rev JM Gates. Mississippi Sheiks and Mamie Smith.
  16. I think Carr only made one session for Bluebird. All the rest were Vocalions.
  17. Unless my memory has completely left, I think the K2 of Monk's Music is mastered from the mono tapes except for the composite "Crepuscule". The previous OJC had 6 of 8 tracks in stereo.
  18. Interesting you bring this up tonight. I have been playing Beethoven cds while cataloging my LVB cds today. I have complete sonata sets by Schnabel ('30s), Kempff ('50s), Brendel ('60s) and others by tons of players including Solomon, Rosen, Richter, etc. This is a life long enchantment. I do not think it will end. If you are interested in more Beethoven, I suggest moving on to the string quartets.
  19. Yes. They failed to get a publishing license from Contemporary. Ornette was looking for an "out" and this was "it". Contemporary filed (or said they'd file) court papers.
  20. People keep mentioning Inner City. 98% of what they issued was licensed from European or Japanese labels. Not a "real" label.
  21. Ann insists (and I agree) you check out this.
  22. Look, it is a worthy event and "cause" BUT don't you think it is rude to make your first (and maybe only) post an ad? Lord knows I "do business" here, but at least I enter into dialogue with the fine members. This is not your "neighborhood advertizer".

    Guy Lafitte

My favorite is "Three Men On A Beat" which I see is now on cd. Other favorites are the Trenet collection and the Black Lion "Bill Coleman Meets Guy Lafitte".
  24. The Inner City was licensed from Musidisc. The original lp was on the America label. Musidisc issued a cd in 1993. The IAI lp was withdrawn shortly after release in 1977. Ornette got it blocked.
