  1. "My Name" was recorded "over there".
  2. Go GOM. You can make it to your 50s, I just know it.
  3. Our local Subway might book music.
  4. Bring her butt back.
  5. I think I recognized a list member's wife on this site.
  6. I intended starting a discussion, not the end. Please, those of you in small rooms - respond and put me in my place. "One Sound", please start the discussion.
  7. This thread is "over and done". Time to stop posting - let it retire.
  8. You have to go to the "Show yer face" thread to get the group's Johnson.
  9. Since they misunderstand the concept, some "jazz fans" abhor freedom and variety. Can't 'splain it myself, unless they find comfort in a small, cozy world.
  10. The Impulse record is a re-recording of music from the soundtrack. Tracey plays on the real movie track.
  11. Nice shirt Chaney.
  12. Welcome to the board Upright! We need more people in that condition.
  13. Maybe more tomorrow. Not tonight. He was a friend.
  14. Geez, I was looking for pre'61 trios and didn't think about later. Let me proudly mention Lester Bowie/Roscoe Mitchell/Malachi Favors on my Art Ensemble box, recorded in 1967. Two horns and bass.
  15. Anybody want a copy of Keane's (sp) redo of the Mona Lisa? I have a copy on black velvet. Those big eyes make the broad much more attractive.
  16. Roses are red Violets are blue Phrases that rhyme Make me want to spew
  17. This is probably my favorite Blakey record. Look At The Birdie is my favorite, but I can probably sing all of Wayne's solos on this one.
  18. Also Grantstand and Horace Silver Trio.
  19. Deep, there is a possibility of "Uptown interest". I believe they have a "blanket agreement" with Lorraine Gillespie and they have dealt with the Herman estate in the past. I will pass the info on and see what happens.
  20. I placed a sizable order with them online about a month ago. They have ignored it, and my subsequent emails. The retail website is gone as well.
  21. Guess you are correct. Those reinterpretations of Leonardo, Beethoven, Piccaso, etc are wonderful. I have 3 different artist's versions of a Rembrandt in my collection now. Duh! If someone like Santana thinks something like Trane's work needs investigation and "reinterpretation", I'd be more impressed if he'd select some neglected work.
  22. Saturday nite, 9:30 and the piece is up on the site.
  23. I've had it on lp (twice - bought a 2nd copy after too much wear), 1st, 2nd and 3rd cd editions. Probably my favorite Mingus since it was first issued. The current cd package is worth it for the extra material.
  24. Please understand this group only plays 2 tunes lasting about 12 minutes. The rest of the set is fine if you like BE, but I don't want to misrepresent it.
