Randy Twizzle replied to Christiern's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
In my capacity as a n obsessive digger through old newspapers I fount this AP stoty from 1973 that dealt with Chris's plans for a movie version of his Bessie bio, that un fortunately never materialized, but I suppose it's never too late -

Steinbrenner's death is already
Randy Twizzle replied to Christiern's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Your lucky you weren't watching the Yes network or lisening to WFAN radio, thhey were treating this like the death of a President or the Pope. -
After I posted the above post my computer problems didn't entirely end, so I didn't get to see all the kind and generous replies that followed until a few days ago. I was upset with my self for not acknowledging all the people who were nice enough to reply to me in December, so I thought it would do that now so that's what I'm doing with this message. It meant a lot to me to read the messages from so many people and also for letting me remind people to take care of their health and not ignore the warning signs of high blood pressure like I did. Before I got sick I thought I was in the best shape of my life. I was running 30 miles a week and eating lots of fruits and drinking bottled water and gatorade instead of soda and beer. I had lost a fair amount of weight when I was in my late 20's and in my early 50's I was feeling on top of the world. The only thing I couldn't control was my temper, which caused me a few problems at work and in my daily life. I had gotten into a few fights with relatives and even strangers in stores, my mother used to warn me to go to a doctor to get my blood pressure checked but I knew better. Now I'm getting around my apartment with a cane which is an improvement over the wheel chair I was using before. My goal is to get back outside and start moving a few miles a day.

Excuse me for asking this, but as I'v mentioned before I was out of circulation for a few months and lost track of this board, but now that I'm back I'm wondering what ever happened to Clementine He often in furiated me more often than not, but I sometimes found him interesting and a good read even when he was at his most eccentric. I realize he drove some people crazy , but I enjoyed his eccentricities even when he made me angry.

Unforgettable TV shows or moments
Randy Twizzle replied to ghost of miles's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
The episode of All in the Family when Mike and Gloria move out of the Bunker home before moving to LA. I remember watching it in college with my roomate and desperately trying not to cry in front of my friend. He broke the tension by saying "let's get high before we both start bawling." -
I don't know if anyone around here remembers me. I used to be pretty active around here until I had a stroke in Febuary of this year. It left me paralyzed on my left side and caused me to spend severals months in hospitals and rehabilitation centers. On top of that I had major computer problems which took me a few months to fix. All in all a major bummer that caused me to spend most of my time watching TV and feeling sorry for myself. The computer problems have been fixed so I decided to try to rejoin the land of the living and try typing with my right hand. This is my maiden effort and since it's Christmas eve I thought itwould be a good time to check in here and let some of you know that I haven't given up my interest in jazz and reading all the opinions that are expressed in this corner of the Net.

[Dylan] is a no-account son of a bitch," Zantzinger told Dylan biographer Howard Sounes in 2001. "He's just like a scum bag of the earth. I should have sued him and put him in jail. [The song is] a total lie." http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/jan/0...oll-inspiration

I've seen this Jan 2, 1957 TV listing in at least 2 different newspapers. Does anyone know if this appearance actually took place and has it ever appeared anywhere on film?

Tom Swift was a favorite as were the Chip Hilton sports books by Clair Bee. There was one book whose author or title I can't recall, but it really affected me. It was about a team of juvenile delinquents who joined a Biddy Basketball league, where they learned the value of honesty, teamwork and all that crap. When I was in the 6th grade I took The Blackboard Jungle out of the library but my mother made me return it the next day.
