  1. Under Dale Fielder Quartet, you can find his To Sir: Tribute to Wayne Shorter, which I recommend. It has some unexpected Wayne tunes and Wayne-inspired originals. The fine band also includes Jane Getz. It is sitting on my car seat awaiting my next drive, actually. I'm glad to hear that Bandcamp Friday has been extended. I may pick up a three-album bundle from pianist Frank LoCrasto based on t he strength of his When You're There. The bundle is $15.75 and includes three albums that only saw a physical release in vinyl.
  2. Thanks! I was looking for an excuse to be cheap and go with the lossless download, but I sprung for the CD.
  3. What is the CD packaging like?
  4. Disc 2: One of my all-time favorite Mosaics. I'd like to sit down and write a lengthy post about it at some point.
  5. Happy Birthday, Mr. Burrell!
  6. Disc 1: One of my all-time favorite Mosaics. Then:
  7. Harper and Knepper?!? Oh, man!
  8. Oof. They posted today for the first time in 8 days. Either they messed up posting a video or they only posted a picture of James Carter playing. I've been meaning to revisit some Carter albums.
  9. A mellow Latin date by percussionist Bob Conti with Alphonso Johnson on bass.
  10. I hope that he is enjoying his retirement and having a happy birthday.
  11. 'Azalea' from the summit with Pops.
  12. I hope that she had a good birthday. I saw half of her set in Detroit a few years ago. She had Rudresh Mahanthappa, Ugonna Okegwo and Matt Wilson with her.
  13. Great Nestico arrangements with a hilarious cover. And now:
  14. I canceled today. I'll keep an eye on their future posts and I'll renew next month if they post some things I must hear. I've heard enough each month to make it easily worth my $10, but I am disappointed that they have dropped the ball.
  15. Ah, Toots. I'm thankful that I got to see him once live, in a duo with Kenny Werner. There is a fair amount of bebop on this one.
  16. This brings backs memories of the one time I saw Pope, three years ago with the choir in Pittsburgh. They played some of the songs from this album. 'Epitome' is such a pretty tune.
  17. After listening to delightful Frank Foster/George Wallongton twofer yesterday, this was a logical choice.
  18. Karel Velebny - SHQ: An ESP gem that I hadn't listened to in years.
  19. Part of the 5 Original Albums box, which is a ridiculous bargain. Silver's comping is something here.
  20. Thanks for reminding me to listen to that one. I have it as Tasty Pudding, with it jointly credited to Wayne, Sims and Moore. Wayne was a fine guitarist who should be known more.
  21. Disc 2: After listening to Runnin' Wild over the weekend and the HRS sessions last week, The Fabulous Sidney Bechet may be next.
