  1. I am totally unfamiliar with this merchant, but they have the Charles Tolliver quartet Mosaic for $30.99. I found it for 40 or 50 bucks a few years ago and was happy with that price. $30.99 is an absolute steal of a deal.
  2. Argh. I didn't realize that the tour was coming to Ohio until an app alerted me yesterday that Herbie had updated his tour page. Although I would've loved to have seen Herbie from the front row again, Row F ain't too shabby.
  3. Argh. My copy ended up in another album's case and is MIA. Just finished: Ron Carter - Orfeu: Adding Houston Person and Bill Frisell to Carter's working band for a program of Brazilian music works. Person always respects a song's melody and Frisell sounds like he is having a lot of fun. And now:
  4. Thank you for the shameless clickbait. I understand that you want people to listen to your music, but don't entice them to click on your thread by falsely associating it with Trane.
  5. The Collectorz app is free to download and $15 to unlock the full version. The free version is limited to 100 albums, a drop in the bucket, but that might be enough to test it out. Edit: I just tried the Discogs app, which seems pretty easy to use. I'll probably add things when I have a few minutes here and there; however, my physical collection is in a disorganized state and I should prioritize working on that.
  6. Thanks to Felser.
  7. I received the new issue of JazzTimes today and caught Mark Stryker's name at the very bottom of the ad for the Newport Jazz Festival. I don't know if they meant Dave Stryker, Mark is giving some kind of presentation or there is a musician named Mark Stryker. At any rate, I had to post it here.
  8. Chick Corea & Touchstone - Rhumba Flamenco
  9. There is a buyer with another on standby.
  10. I have had an extra copy of this box for years, having bought it used for $55 for the sole purpose of selling it. I've switched all of the best discs to the box I am selling. Any scratches don't affect play. Being a box with an outer white sleeve, it does have some wear/dirt from being on store shelves/being 10 years old. I could include pics if that worries you. I am selling it for what I paid ($55) plus shipping costs. First PM to commit gets it. Proceeds go to my toddler's college fund.
  11. After he left Peabody Conservatory, I was hoping Thomas would return to the national scene with a vengeance. I am not sure what he is up to now.
  12. If you go on Google, today's doodle is of Hugh Masekela in commemoration of his 80th birthday. I don't think I posted on his RIP thread, but I saw him once live, in a duo with Larry Willis. Despite the loud bar crowd and a consistently annoying, overzealous photographer, it was a special, memorable show. I picked up Best of Friends after the gig, a compilation culled from the four-disc set Masekela and Willis did that seems to be impossible to find. I'll listen to that album soon to remember Masekela and will think of him when I see Willis next month.
  13. This is a gem I found for a buck a few years ago and am listening to for the second time in a week. Fans of Paul Motian's Electric Bebop Band, Bill Frisell, Brad Shepik, etc. should check it out. There's a certain clarity and openness that makes it very appealing. While saxophonist Jonathan Moritz has remained active on the freer side of things, guitarist Daniel Marcus appears to have moved on to a career as a singer/songwriter.
  14. I looked at a few of their listings on Amazon and they were listed as being fulfilled by Amazon. If what you ordered was being fulfilled by Amazon, that is on Amazon. You should be able to obtain a refund easily once it is past the expected arrival period. You can order directly from the group here.
  15. Felser kindly offered to sell his copy, so I am looking forward to hearing this one for myself.
  16. Pretty callous, Jim. Here's wishing Mick the best.
  17. And now: Redd with Al McKibbon and Billy Higgins.
  18. I remember really liking LeDonne's 'Bout Time with the same trio plus Tom Harrell and Gary Smulyan. I've seen LeDonne three times, backing Benny Golson, George Coleman and Curtis Fuller, which says a lot about him. Now finishing: Freddie Redd - Redd's Blues: I am absolutely befuddled by the so-so reviews of this one.
  19. A recent discussion got me interested in this one. Does anyone have a copy they'd like to sell for a reasonable price?
  20. Marcus/Moritz Quartet - Center of the World
