  1. I have some difficulties with the definitions of this question: I live in Israel, but I was born in Norway and I have very strong feelings / connections to it, so I think I would refrain from just saying the obvious - Norway which is like a second home for me (I guess I feel as though it is also my own country, which takes it out of the equation). I'd have to go for Canada I guess, I got there almost by mistake, and haven't spent a lot of time there (visiting Toronto & the Niagara Falls), but I guess for me Toronto seemed to take all the positive sides of the US while dropping the Negatives.
  2. "In their opinion, the listing of almost impossible to get tapes, creates some insane collectionism. " Yes but imagine the joy of finding some never realeased session and making a small V beside itn your discography (It makes my day). Now imagine you've got something that is not in the discography A It irritates!!! B You start wondering if the session details you have are correct. C If you are a "Collectorhollic" like myself you write it in the discography which is very useful but usually it ruins the looks of the discography. Give me the most complete discography possible and I'll figure out how to get the impossible.
  3. Every performance should be included regardless of medium-That's the way my three main discographies work and that's the way it should be!!!
  4. I Love the sound, seems to me that the lower a saxsophone gets the better I like it (The above doesn't contadict with the fact that I love both Soprano and Alto Sax)
  5. I stand corrected - I misunderstood what you were saying
  6. There was some mixup with this session, I'll check when I return home...
  7. Why do you claim the session wasn't released by Candid??? I have this Candid CD (which is my only Taylor CD - He is usually too weird for my liking).
  8. On the outside I'm white, but on the inside I'm darker than a black hole.
  9. If I remember correctly I ordered my first Mosaic during the summer of 1994, it was Louis Armstrong (I actually ordered the Chet Baker Studio for a friend and later for myself).
  10. Looks appetizing, I haven't heard this one but I will surely look for it.
  11. I think the title you chose is not offensive, kinda reminds me of the movie "White guys can't jump" (I hope I remember the title correctly).
  12. First of all my collection is insured (I don't believe in insuring my collection but IT IS INSURED). After saying that I would like to add that (I don't know how things work were you live but...) around here (Israel) I would get X shekels (local currency) per CD or LP I lost. If I loose my entire collection (God forbid) I would get the same amount of money for easy to find CD's as I would get for unreplaceable items. It would help me restart collecting again but I would finish the money I got a long time before I got back all that I have lost. On top of that I don't believe that there are many local insurance agents who have enough knowlede to accurately estimate the real value of my collection... If I do loose my entire collection I believe I would kill myself (That would be a much gentler solution).
  13. My collection is insured as part of my my "flat content insurance". I do have an Excell ducument that should have documented my CD collection if it were up to date but, I regret to say that it is not up to date. In addition it doesn't say anything about my LP collection. When I was asked about my collection (for insurance purposes) I gave rough estimates (about 2000 cd's and 500 LP's) - The collection has grown since. I do not believe in the insurance of my collection because some of the items I have are very rare (which means that if anything happened to my collection it would be very hard to find some of the items I have).
  14. Since my musical (or Jazzical) tastes grew chrolologically (Dixie and Swing, than Be Bop, Cool, Hard Bop etc.) I used NOT to get a lot of guys who are among my favorites now. The Strongest examples are Miles Davis electrical period and Sun Ra.
  15. If I remember correctly the battery lasts longer. Your main consideration should be how much you are willing to pay for the photo capabilities. In my case I am not that impressed by these extra capabilities. I like my iPod just the way it is now.
  16. I guess the only thing that turns me on about the Ipod photo is the fact that it holds 60 Gigas. I have a 40 Gigas Ipod and I love it. I see no justification in spending so much money on the photo viewing features. You can always wait for bigger but "normal" pods...
  17. Well, I have posted twice since I joined, but for some very curious reason (or misfortune) I am not quick enough. If I find out I have something smart and intelligent to say I find out that someone have said the exact same thing before I got the chance. I do like to lurk around so please don't do anything violent to me.
  18. 40 giga can hold something like 800 cd's.
  19. I was twelve when I got my first gramophone and bought my first lp's. I bought a double album by Fats Waller (I think it was titled Ain't Misbehavin'). A record by Ella Fitzgerald (Don't remember the name but it included a version of Hey Jude which I liked very much). A record by Benny Goodman (Don't remember which one it was). Since I got my first gramophone for my birthday I guess that I bought these around September or October 1982.
