  1. I meant that only in the nicest, most complimentary, positive, right-thinking, charitable, open-mnded, kind, compassionate, well-meaning, intellectual, emotional, obfuscatory way -
  2. yes you are entitled to your opinion - now please, let us stay on topic -
  3. with most consumer equipment, it is true that there is a real loss in transfer through analog-digital stage. However, I have an older but very nice symetrix 20 bit converter that uses noise shaping to convert to 16 bit, I have a high quality sound card, and a good editing program - I also use an audiophile turntable and a CEDAR system - and can hear no loss - the key is really the converters, getting it to the digital stage - plus decent monitors so you know what you are hearing -

thanks - is Dave Burns still alive? He was a terific trumpet player -

    Diz

that led to the knife incident - where Diz cut Calloway on the buttocks - apparently, from what I was told, he did this because that's a spot that takes forever to heal (because of all the skin bending and stretching) - what did your dad do after he left Dizzy?
  6. unless your name is COUW - in which case we will send you only side one -
  7. yes, those Iraqui insurgents sure know how to press a record -
  8. as usual Ron you are absolutely correct - just post credit card numbers here and I'll send you whatever LP I feel like - sort of like a grab bag - of course, they may be cracked or otherwise broken, but they came out of a Pinata -
  9. well, for a PICTURE disc, send a picture of your credit card so all numbers and expiration date are visible (plus security code) -
  10. sorry, that's the old price - each recording has had a cost-of-living increase - just send the credit card number and you'll find out next month what you paid -
  11. on special this week are a few gatefold quadrophonic copies of Lou Donaldson's Hot Dog that were run over by an 18 wheel truck on route 95 - though unplayable (which they were even before the accident) they make very good coasters, and at $49.95 plus shipping are a collector's dream -
  12. well, we'll take cash instead - that'll be $8.95 since it's only a mono copy -
  13. Inspired by the great record shop called Bananas, in Florida, I will sell any record in my collection. However, in order to purchase any record, you have to give me your credit card number and I will charge whatever I feel like, at the time - there will also, of course, be a large extra fee for shipping and handling - so line up boys - name that record - if I have it, then email me that credit car number - and than sit back and watch your debt grow...
  14. "Allen, I love it when post and drink at the same time" - well, as the old saying goes, I only drink when I'm alone or with somebody else -
  15. Just for informational purposes, in case someone wants to make an offer: Bananas Address: 2226 16th Ave. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33713 Phone: (727) 327-4616 Toll FREE: (800) 823-4113 Web Site: www.musicfinder.com E-Mail: Bananagram@aol.com -tell 'em Al sent ya -
  16. on the other hand, I have noticed that one of the nice things about the LP market is that prices these days seem very reasonable; one can big up a lot of nice stuff very affordably. The market forces are acting in a resonably sane way, with the odd craze now and than, usually led by some crazy foreign collector who buys 'em and stores them in some temperature controlled crypt near the arctic circle -
  17. and on the monkey thing, well, I'll just have to smoke a banana and think about it -
  18. thank you, King Ubu - that still does not explain why there were only Three Sounds, however -
  19. I think there's a Phineas Newborne solo piano version as a ballad, somewhere... when I met Tommy Flanagan years ago, I asked him what it was like to be in the studio with Coltrane and have to get a sheet of music for Giant Steps and than just record it immediately - he said, impassively, "oh, it was just a set of chord changes..."
  20. and couw is, pure and simple, a nasty guy who seems to revel in his nastiness - his history of activity on this board does not make him immune from criticisn, just as my 35 years of activity in the jazz world does not make me immune -
  21. "And why share that with us?" because I'm just a sharing type of guy - and unlike more than a few of you I have a sense of humor - it's interesting - when somebody disagrees with you guys, attacks with sarcasm or humor are seen as a justifiable tactic - however, if it's a friend or someone you agree with or like, you explain how inappropriate it all is -
  22. boy, this does get silly, proving Pasta was 100% correct in his original post - besides, I still have that $900 Nat Cole waiting for a mark to purchase it - or maybe I should refer to the purchaser as a john -
  23. true - it's just that couw made it, typically, into something personal - sorry, I just do not like that guy -
  24. hey COUW - it ain't trolling and baiting it's just some light hearted fun - something which you, in your eternal narcissistic nastiness, obviously know nothing about - but maybe it's a language issue -
