caiman or casacaiman on Amazon or half
etherbored replied to dova's topic in Offering and Looking For...
my own experience with this seller is having ordered several (maybe 6) jazz in paris titles before i acquired the box. each title took approximately 4 - 6 weeks to arrive. after the first order i could instantly tell that they're not much more than a wholesaler or shell for product as te packages were dispatched from a third party. they didn't answer a status inquiry email, but after receiving the first title i knew the rules of the game and felt safe with subsequent orders based on their pricepoints. i did communicate with someone about discounted shipping if i ordered over 20 (again of the jazz in paris series) titles, but they simply weren't sophisticated enough to tailor an order as they're simply a conduit... -e- -

--- no offense intended whatsoever, but for myself i am not concerned with 'cheap'. the cheap route often leads down a dead-end street. i'm concerned about 'good'. mcmaster's work is, im my experience, inconsistent. i'll reserve my order until i see feedback (let us know hans!). hopefully 'good' and 'cheap' can meet, as they have in some other selects... regards, -e-

--- claude - this pressing was indeed released in 1994 (28 september). the 1996 date you see refers to a date after which the japanese market could legally discount this particular pressing. there are two dates on the reverse of japanese pressings. the first refers to initial release date and the second the date after which price controls expire... regards, -e-

and they seem to be simplistic transfers of the japanese works series (which most folks refer to as the TOCJ series)... i have 2 and they work for me. the artwork is sorely lacking, -e-

-- oh, no, it's all good with me. i just wasn't making the connection between the way up and the boot salesman. i also realize that a good percentage of "long time fans" (of which i am surely one) seem to have difficulties with an artist changing and evolving. this certainly isn't your father's metheny record. which brings us to the amazon reviews... -e-

--- could we get a translation on this paragraph...? -e- ps: no confession need be made for slogging bootlegs. if the market exists...

i know we've been discussing 'the way up' from awhile before and after having just made it through my second listening today, i'd be happy to share my early thoughts. i first heard about this project over a year ago from a friend of mine, engineer rich breen. he said that pat had this, what he presumed, far-fetched idea of a continual 70 minute suite of sorts for a recording (then untitled, of course). i was instantly amused and curious as to where this concept could be taken. i understood that if anyone could meet my expectations, whatever they might be, it would be a musician/composer/producer of pat's (and lyle's for that matter) level. having just 20 minutes ago made it through my second listening, my very initial obseravtions are that the project is, in my mind, a success. these may be scattered ramblings, but i think it's a very listenable record. very informed by 'secret story'. it's a very ambitious work. i did myself the disservice of reading the initial listener reviews at amazon last night. i don't get the criticisms of a slight recurring theme in the piece. nor do i necessarily care that a theme explored over 20 years ago, familiar to some, may have been constructed upon. these are criticisms that simply don't make any sense to me. to each his own, of course. obviously with a work of this breadth, it would take me more than a couple listenings to have an intelligent conversation. for the first two listenings though, i'm delighted and have a feeling i'll be spending alot of time with this record for months, if not years, to come. as i said, these may be scattered ramblings, but that's how it strikes me thus far, -e-

that's very true, but since i work in a suburb i always wonder if it wouldn't take 'em an extra day or so to get it out here (vs where i live in the city center). and BTW, can i specify that mosaic use another carrier besides DHL...? -e- -

* great * idea! -e- -
i'll tell you which mosaic set i'm not enjoying right now: #221 (the complete verve gerry mulligan concert jazz band)... i was thinking this should have been delivered some time ago and rang mosaic who told me that DHL delivered it to my address on january 17th and obtained the requisite signature. i then called DHL and discovered that they *didn't* obtain a signature and left the parcel "at the door", whatever that means (as i live in a large building). mosaic, being the class act they are, is sending a replacement to my office overnight, to be here tomorrow a.m. after years in the same building, notwithstanding a year in tokyo, this is the first time a package has gone missing. sorry for the rant, -e-
